Awful news.

Frustrating player at times, but no doubting he had massive talent and scored some outrageously good goals.

Anyone remember the goal he scored against us for Ipswich? I remember thinking then, what a player, we should get him.

Yes I do. I think we were 6-0 or 6-1 up at the time but a good strike, bent in off the bar from the edge of the area. Have been searching vain for it on YouTube.
Think we won 6-2 in the end Platty got 4 - remember my Dad turning round and saying "best goal of the night, we should sign him!".

For me the abiding memory will always be the opening goal that seemed to take an eternity to reach the goal in the league cup final and the absolute pandemonium that broke out behind that goal.

I remember being picked up from school by my Dad and him telling me that he was taking me to the game the next day and being an excited six year old. Dalian scored the winner against Manchester United in a 1-0 win. I was a happy child.

Gutted.

He's died 24 years to the day that he scored our first ever Premier League goal, an 83rd minute equaliser at Ipswich 15.8.92

This is just very difficult to comprehend. One of the most talented players we've had over the last 25 years and scorer of two the most important goals over the same period.

The circumstances here seem to pretty much define the word tragic.

On his day, he was amongst the best forwards of his generation. Some say that he fell short of what he might have achieved, but on closer inspection, his career was one he could look back on with some pride.

Shocking news. Had the pleasure of being present at most of his screamers and will always be grateful especially for scoring that first one at Wembley in 94. Had pace, power and skill. Was a joy to watch when he was on his game.

Horrible news.

I was at Selhurst when he scored THAT goal. Was a deadly double act with Deano.

Can't believe it, just 48.

I hadn't thought of Dalian in years but before the match on Saturday I saw someone wearing an old asics shirt with his name on the back and it brought a smile to my face.

To hear this news today is shocking.

Desperately sad news. As a young football fan, there arent many things more heroic than a footballer with the ability to ghost past defenders and score world class goals - he could do both and seemed to do it effortlessly. At that age, you dont really notice season long form or the fact that he may have been invisible for 80 minutes of the match, Just the moment of magic that sent you home happy on a saturday evening. RIP
