Bob, what is your problem here?

Ignorance of the institutional problems in the police

Arguments against clear evidence of malpractice

A more general problem of submitting to a nebulous sense of authority without proper reason

I get all that Bob, but you are arguing with yourself mate.

No one here to my knowledge has eg suggested those issues aren’t there, has said Police are perfect. We’re discussing it because of alleged incredibly serious malpractice.

The only absolutist position has come from yourself, a F the Police, which others understandably take exception to as there are examples of good practice. I have concerns of Police malpractice, have to pick up the pieces sometimes. But by working with, training them, challenging them constructively, reinforcing the positives, maybe things get better.

I totally get being angry, but I think your are creating more division with your comments rather than helping things improve.

There's nothing nebulous about it; the state monopolies violence to enforce the social contract. Without the state having that power it ceases to be.

What were you arrested for?

and how does posting like a teenager who just discovered NWA help in any way?

The middle line in particular makes absolutely no sense in context, yes there is clear evidence of malpractice, that's why an internal investigation has found the officer worthy of being charged with murder rather than any of a number of softer sentences. On that basis how are people who are disagreeing with you arguing against that?

Just for the record, I was a police officer for 27 years. I put plenty of rapists, murderers and child molesters in prison. I have spent hours viewing the most disgusting videos you could imagine and matching them painstakingly with e mails to prove someone was part of an international paedophile ring. I still have nightmares about that one, but I saved a girl who was too frightened to accuse her dad from a life of torture. I sent a man who had systematically raped three of his daughters over twenty years to prison, even though none of them made a complaint. I sent down two men who had burgled and terrified a string of old people.  I comforted the bereaved, I dealt with things and saw things and shared people’s suffering in ways I suspect Bob can only imagine. I never lifted a finger to a black person and hate racism with every fibre of my being. I put myself in danger, I got injured, I carry mental scars from what I have seen and done for half the money my mates earn and I did it all, like 99% of plod, because I care. If this bloke has done what he’s accused of, I would have taken massive pride in helping send him to prison. So I suspect I have contributed more to the poor and minority groups than Bob ever has. Fuck narrow minded, prejudiced, generalising, judgmental twats like Bob

Well said Mike. Brilliant post.

Seconded. Enjoy your retirement, Mike.

Which particular bit do you think supports you? No one disagrees that the officer was in the wrong, no one is upset that he's facing criminal charges. Some people are grown-up enough to offer comments beyond your brand of bullshit.

What’s your experience with the Police Bob?

Personally I always found Sting to be pretentious.

Ah. Bob,  ‘n Vic and the famous ‘tommy squeaker’ interview, always worth dusting off,
https://youtu.be/O4Zot1i7bJk

It’s almost enough to begin forgive him off the solo career.

A policeman is alleged to have murdered him. There will be a trial and the Court will hear evidence.

Ok, my final word Bob. Equally basic.  Are you saying F your ex/Police family and friends too?
Presumably they are not directly involved in what happened to this ex-Villa player with severe physical and mental health issues?

Do you actually want things to get better or stay with anger and polarity?
Will leave you with those questions and your feelings.

Respect you views pt.

Yes I include family members and friends in the umbrella of 'the police'.

You said a policeman murdered Dalian. He might have, but we will find out once the trial is complete and justice has been served.
