I'd be ok with one or both of the Bender twins- Sven or Lars. 6 foot defensive midfielders both... "Bender to Bender to Bent..."

FFS what is it with the Holt to Villa thing? Norwich won't give him a new contract because he's too old. Why on earth do we want to commit a fee of 4m and wages of 35k a week to a player who is nearly 32 and has no re sale value whatsoever? It's fucking madness to even contenplate signing him and if we do, my belief that we've turned the coner will be severely challenged. Might as well have TSM back as its just the sort of thing that c*** would do. We need to be aiming a lot higher. After all we are Aston villa.
Exactly,

Nice to see that the ancient tradition of moaning about things that aren't happening is still alive and well.

The only team he has been linked with is Wet Spam with a £4.5m bid. Any links to Villa so far have just been lazy journalism because we've just appointed his ex manager who hasnt even had his press conference yet its all pure speculation and bolx.

Well, this is the place for it.

They did'nt seem to mind giving him a contract to take him up to his 33rd birthday and besides considering they think he's too old, they'll want a fortune for him.

Perhaps Holt would give the Villa a couple of seasons of a double figure tally in goals. Who gives a shit about age or resale value? It's what happens on the pitch that matters. Leave the business matters to the suits.

He's tailor-made for a newly-promoted club. One year contract, big payday, score fifteen goals and keep us up.

My personal hope is that he tries to build us around the German model. Hard working teams, no little skill, but sides that play to the very end and are incredible versatile and efficient. If we can't compete financially we should be able to compete in other ways and consistently. And certainly always look to beat those teams around us and below us and give it a real go every time against the sides above us.

First signing should be Robbie Keane. I hope someone has told Mr L how he inspired the team and revived our shitey season whilst he was on loan.

I couldn't agree more.

Well he certainly likes his team to be physically strong. Not sure where Barry Bannan will fit in to his plans.

There isn't a huge amount of strength about Wes Hoolahan and Anthony Pilkington, to name but two.

I genuinely don't care who his first signing is. I don't worry if they will be value for money. I just have this feeling of trust with Lambert.

I will be happy with whoever he signs and trust him that they will improve the team.

Not felt like this for a long time!

i'l be amazed if Grant Holt is not a Villa player next season, for me he's a shoe in to sign for us.

i dont paticulary want him, because he defines a certain style of play, but thats one of the styles Lambert uses to good effect, Holt scored 15 league goals for Norwich last season more than Gabby has ever scored in any league season.

he will be exactly the sort of signing we must start getting used to, dont forget Lambert had Wilbraham as well at Norwich, who is a carthorse of a man (i'm not sugesting we are in for him)
i know the MON comparisons get on everyones nerves, but i dont think they are there for no reason, and his signings i think will reflect that.

Holt is also joint favourite to sign for us at 11/10, from the same bookies who had Lambert favourite from beginning to end apart from a brief fling with OGS, you know the bookies who dont know whats going on !

get used to it, if Holt is not a Villa player soon, i will eat my So'wester
