he played 12 games for newcastle who made a very good challenge for the champions league, is on a free transfer, would defiantly have a sell on value and is better than anybody we have in that position at the moment with the exception of possibly gardner(in time) and makoun(may not want to be here) bannan ireland and herd arnt really the tough tackling types that guthrie is.  it makes total sense, murphy is old but on a one year maybe 2 year deal on low wage as cover for the possibly finished petrov would be good biz, great pen taker, good at dead balls and not afraid to tackle, 2 players available for free with bags of premier league experience who in all honesty cant demand over 30k a week makes sound financial sense,  if our budget is only 25 million thats 2 center backs and 1 punt on a midfielder  at the most, so we will need to utilise the free transfer market,
