I think the negativity surrounding this is because of the damage caused by Lerners last managerial fuck up. You can't blame people thinking the worst after the laughing stock they made of us last time.

That's what I was trying to say above. I don't think this is necessarily a fuck up, but all the same, the gigantic fuck up of last summer lingers in the memory.

Fukin shambles, we are a laughing stock yet again.

I just don't see it like this at all.  How come people won't believe our own press officer when he says no job was offered, yet they have no problems believing random ITK's on Twitter? Villa are going about things in a spot on matter as far as I can see.
'
Because some people always want to believe the worst of the team they support. I don't understand it either.

Have the Villa press office said that they never offered a contract? I just thought they confirmed that OSG had pulled out of the running citing family reasons.

Christ, aren't there some drama queens or here tonight! Why shouldn't OGS have declined to be considered for family reasons? McLeish has only just got the boot-print off his arse and there's people moaning about the club dithering. Have some dignity, I would have liked him to come too, but it's far from the end of the world. Apart from anything else, I wish people would stop flapping their egos by claiming to be ITK. As a rule of thumb, assume that you know fuck all, and stop this ridiculous Chinese Whispers - the waiting for something to happen is irritating enough.

Look at the facts Dave. We have amateurs owning and running the club. They are on a run of making wrong decisions and making a pigs ear out of most dealings on the football side.

Gutted like most, still think Ian holloway would do a good job. If as some folks on here are saying randy ain't gonna spend big holloway would get every single player in a villa shirt up for each game ready to give their all.

This whole saga shouldn't surprise any of us. We're Aston Villa fans, for Christ's sake - what did we think would happen? It's been just like when we've gone a goal up against a big scalp, Man United for example. The clock ticks down, we've held on and it looks like we're going to do it. We're going to fucking win. How great will it be if we finally fucking win? Then, in the last minute of injury time, they score. Two. A substitute. A Solskjær.

You know what, Villanjock may have a point. It would'nt surprise me if this took another twist in the next day or so. There's been that many false rumours and stories flying round in the past week who knows what might happen. It's looking unlikley but well you never know.

OK if some people want to comfort themselves  that he put his family first fine. I don't buy it. It's a PR spin agreed by both parties.

You proof is?
And do you have any proof otherwise other than a tale that has been used a thousand times?

So you admit you have no proof?

Genuinely, the last few days have been the most exciting for me as a disgruntled Villa/Football fan for the last few years. Now I just feel totally deflated.

Maybe we all got a bit carried away with the idea, though.

He's an unusual option, yes, but he's extremely inexperienced, a couple of years coaching youth teams and a year in Norway, it's not the most impressive of track records, he's very young and has a way to go yet.

I think my disappointment is part he's not coming, and part "oh christ, who else is on their list?"

I actually do buy the family reasons too Paulie, watching the documentary on him, he is very family focused they have the house they really wanted, he loves being by the sea etc, and is financially comfortable. Maybe the initial excitement of a big job wore off as he surveyed what he has out there. My family comes first and no job or money would come before them, maybe he is just the same.

They aren't, but don't let facts get in the way of a good bit of hand-wringing.

No way to Ian Holloway. Things are bad but they aren't so bad that we go crawling to somebody who A isn't all he thinks he is and B had the cheek to slag off a club of our standing.

They made an absolute howler of the last appointment but let's not point the finger because a young manager learning his trade in Norway has turned us down. A bit of credit for being brave enough going for him in the first place would'nt go amiss.
