I wonder if we've had many unsolicited applications from managers we haven't actively approached.
I have had no answer to my application however I think that is only because Paul Faulkner does not have an email account.

I just called up Dave Whelan. I have NOT been contacted yet, I repeat NO CONTACT has bene made by Aston Villa for my services as manager.

I will update him again tomorrow. He likes to know these things,

We know we'll have to let you move on some time, ciggiesnbeer, but it will be to a European giant.

Fjortoft just tweeted that Solskjær has confirmed he has a clause in his contract allowing him to go to a Premier League club whenever he wants. We're in.

we know OSG would take the job , but Villa need to offer him it first.

I can confirm categorically that I want OGS to be our next manager, if only because I have this vision that every time one of our lot got near the eighteen yard box of the opposition the Holte End would rise to their feet and shout in perfect unison "Fucking shoot!" Brilliant!  ;D

And for many other reasons as well, of course!

: Solskjær to #Nettavisen after the game tonight:-Got a clause in my contract saying I can leave Molde for any PL -club whenever I want
#avfc”

Here's the Nettavisen.no article.

http://www.nettavisen.no/sport/fotball/article3400545.ece

Translation:

Ole Gunnar Solskjær reveals to Nettavisen why is fully entitled to sign for Aston Villa

On Sunday Ole Gunnar Solskjær had a quick chance to catch his breath after the attention surrounding his talks with Premier League club Aston Villa

The pause was short lived but at least resulted in three points away to Sandnes Ulf who until Sunday had remained unbeaten at home.

Gjeltsen Regrets

Whilst Molde battled for points in Sandnes, investor Bjørn Rune Gjelsten appeared as a guest on NRKs sports review.  Here Gjelsten spoke about the 3-5 year plan Solskjær presented when the trainer was appointed.

"Our goal was to create a top club over time, and that hasn't changed.  We were quite unprepared for offers to come so soon said Gjelsten, before adding - "I myself contributed 20-30 million kroner (about £2.5m) which i would never have done if i knew Solskjær would leave after one year."

Can leave whenever

The investors statement appears somewhat naive, when one knows that Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been linked to managers jobs with English clubs since he took the Molde job.

Some pundits have pointed out that if Solskjær had a clause in his contract all the fuss could have been avoided.  Reality is not that simple

I can confirm that I have a clause in my contract to leave Molde for any Premier League club at any time said Ole Gunnar Solskær himself til Nettavsien on Sunday evening

There follows more on  the rift between the Molde board and their backers

He ends with

In the mean time, there is one thing he give self criticism for, that he invited Aston Villa to come on Thursday evening.

"I thought the flight would come at 09:00.  I should have ensured that the flight came then and not the 17th."

Edited to correct some typos  :(

Well, funnily enough, I have more to do in my life than looking around the world for all the options available to us.

I dont. I still want Glenn Hoddle.

Ozz, yes! But not the only one to be impressive. Which is good as it gives options...

Very interesting indeed. Options are useful I agree, although I have been taken a bit by surprise by the level of support for Solskjaer, which is really refreshing, and would be really good to have a young manager that a genuine majority (eg Alex) are getting behind. Given time, I really think he could do well, although as I know from match threads etc, you will agree some of the players need to be got shut off too. It is a big job, but OGS is handling himself well since the news came out.

Well, Randy, if you're reading this, my vote goes to Solskjaer. I know how much stock you put in my opinion, so there it is.

Yours sincerely,

I haven't read through all 114 pages of this thread so I dont know if its already been mentioned.
Things have been going on so fast that I have only just realised. Bjørn Rune Gjelsten is the same guy who was involved in moving Wimbledon to Milton Keynes.
I am sure we will get our man but no doubt it will get a bit messy ( it already has) as we are basically dealing with wankers.
