All of the predictions about remaining fixtures seem to be assuming we won't get anything against Spurs. I don't see why we can't get a decent result on Sunday.

Same here.  A rocking Villa Park will get us the win.

And fair play to you Sir for picking up the baton of unbridled optimism which I dropped midway through the Sunderland game.

Aren't Stoke hopeless away from home? Despite City's win yesterday giving them something to play for on the last day whatever happens, I still have a dread of going into he last match equal on points. I will age ten years.

Yes, if that's the case, would you rather be playing Norwich away or Man City away knowing you have a superior goal difference? I still think we can get t least a point from the Spurs game, and if we're fired up, another point at least from Norwich if not all three. All we need really is 1 point from the last two games because there's no way QPR will get 6 points from their two games.

I quite agree. Doesn't mean I won't be bricking it on the final day unless we are already three points ahead of QPR.

Here's the nightmare scenario for us:-

Man City lose away at Newcastle next game, putting it back in Man Utd's hands they beat Swansea and are two or three  up in their last game, meaning Man City aren't going to win the league.  At the same time, their game with QPR is nil nil and they have nothing to play for, but QPR do having beaten Stoke at home.

Then we can all start to collectively brick it!!

It did seem like everything was nice and positive yesterday, and now everyone's gone back into meltdown.

QPR wouldn't even need to win if they beat Stoke, a draw would do it.(If we don't pick up any more points)

Let's face it, if Spurs win tomorrow then we can put Bolton back in the mix. Let's face, for some of their good results there's plenty of crap ones. Let's not forget, that despite us playing crap all season there are currently five teams below us with 2/3 games to go. They did not get there playing well and winning games so let's not fall into the trap of believing that these teams are suddenly going to go unbeaten whilst we lose every game. Of course, it could happen but the season so far suggests that they have been worse than us.

Dave, I have had cause to see how both courage and panic are contagious and I am ashamed to be a spreader of panic. I really think we will stay up but I can't help the little voice of fear whispering in my ear.

I think a lot the media and some of us, including myself at times have been guilty of awarding Wigan guaranteed safety for their recent run and awarding points to Bolton for games in hand before they have played the games.

Indeed. Big game for Bolton on Wednesday night, and Spurs will be gunning for them knowing that Newcastle have the harder game against Chelsea.

In my case I think that if QPR did manage to overtake us then i'd be very surprised if Bolton and Wigan weren't above us as well. That's why I concentrate on us and QPR.

Here's a nightmare scenario. We need a win against Norwich to stay up and a monster is chasing me down some winding stairs. I have a gun but it doesn't work. Then this beautiful woman drags me into her bedroom to escape and we make love, but I realise afterwards its my mate's mum and she has AIDS.
