We have been sleepwalking into this situation all season.

HOUSE!

Yes! I only needed this one for a full house in Relegation Cliché Bingo.

What game will be the turning point - good or bad?

Sat 21st at 4.55pm after Sunderland  (we could have won a be safe!!:))
Sat 21st at 7.35pm - when the QPR v Spurs games finsh (we could have lost to Sunderland and QPR win - firmly in the shit)
Tues 24th at 9.45pm  -  chance to beat Bolton after losing to Sunderland and QPR winning - we would be safe,  OR  lose this as well and really firmly in the shit.

For me where we are on Tues at 9.45pm is the moment of truth.  If it good then phew, it its bad then AM will not pull us out of this tailspin and we are down unless RL at that point grew a pair and pulled the trigger.

TonyD, i read your signature.  If Mr Burns was in charge, we would be making money.  Also Homer as manager would make for the best pre and post match interviews. "So Homer, what did you think about losing today?" "Losing?, I thought we....D'oh"  "Homer, Carruthers really seems to be hitting a sweet spot at the moment"  "Mmmmm sweeeetsss". "Homer, what are your thoughts on goal line technology?" "oh, look, a dog with a fluffy tail, tee hee hee"

If QPR  had won on Saturday  and Blackburn hadn't spurned a huge opportunity against Liverpool we'd be in serious trouble.

As it is given the fixtures those teams have left I think 2 points will be enough. So realistically there's very little chance of us going down, not that our pathetic football wouldn't be deserving of such a fate.

Assuming Villa get no points at all from our remaining 5 games, three of the following would have to happen for us to get relegated.

Wigan get 2 draws from 4 games.  Very likely.

QPR get at least 1 win and 2 draws from 4 games.  Not impossible, but they have a tough run-in

Bolton get at least 2 wins and a draw from 6 games.  They have an easier run-in, and one of those wins would have been against us.

Blackburn get at least 2 wins and 2 draws from 4 games.  Highly unlikely.

Wolves have to win all 4 remaining games AND make up a 26 goal difference on us.  Virtually impossible.

If we win just one game (or get 3 draws), I'd say we'd stay up.

We need to win on Saturday. If we lose to Sunderland and QPR beat Spurs to say we are under pressure to beat Bolton three days later would be the understatement of the season.

I think if we don't lose to Bolton, then we'll be ok. I don't think Bolton will believe they can do it if they fail to beat us.

How depressing is that statement? Can't believe the season has come down to try and make sure we don't lose to Bolton.

We're now 16/1 with Coral. Blackburn and QPR odds-on, Wigan sixes.

I can see it now...Carrow Road 13 May...a sea of folk in yellow shirts all singing 'we'll meet again' to us.  Lovely.

Weren't we 10/1 before the weekend?

Just goes to show that overall results went in our favour, other than Wigan.

I don't see us getting more than a draw on Saturday and I fear for us beating Bolton the way we're playing, as we can't score more than one goal.

We could be humiliated by seeing Wigan overtake us and I just hope QPR drop into the bottom three, but hopefully, we will survive by the skin of our teeth

As I have said before, I do not think we will go down.

Don't want to open another thread for this so I shall put it here.

When it is finally confirmed that we are safe I shall breath a sigh of relief, shake my head and leave the ground in silence.  Please please please, no celebrations of a crap season.

The thought of Gardner C and bloomin Reo Coker scoring at Villa Park has me even more worried about the next two games. You know one of them will, you just know it!
