Agree with the anti Holt comments. The last thing we need is to be shelling out a large transfer fee and wages on a soon to be 32 year old forward. Avoid.

Had to turn talk sport off this morning...

Are villa really a bigger club than Norwich

Villa only have 20,000 attendance

Mcleish did a good job and kept us up

Villa fans fickle cos last year when McLeish was appointed we moaned and are still moaning 12 months on...

Villa is a fallen club in turmoil

Either we are deluded about the club or media just hate us!

john, it's only you I think that thinks Whelan has to defend his cubs honour or something.
Nobody is attacking Wigan and he's not a popular figure there. They think he's a bigger prick than I do.

I love underdogs and I love characters just like you do, but your admiration is wasted on this nasty, petty, chinese-trainer-wrangling, pound-chasing, decrepit old monkey rectum. He's not defending anything, he's going out of his way to slag other clubs off for no reason other than inflate his ego.

i know its only me, i can live with it

They might think Whelan is an arehole in Wigan but I've got to admit if I was an Athletic fan he'd be amusing me at the minute.

I thought Darren Bent was a proper centre forward, his record seems to suggest that! They can keep Holt, somebody has to eat all of Delia's burnt offerings. Can we give them Warnock as Lambert's compo?

To me, we've already got a far superior version of Holt in Darren Bent. What Lambert needs to work on (if he ends up here - don't want to tempt fate) is not replacing Agbonlahor but making sure Bent is complimented by him. Norwich have that lad Jackson who is a tricky speedster and he and Holt seem to be able to play together. With A-list versions of those players, Lambert may not need to delve too deeply into replacing strikers.

Lambert:
"Och Gabby, we need to get you complimenting Benty"

Gabby:
"Ok boss, i'll work on it"

Next day.........

Gabby:

"Benty, come here"

Bent:
"Whassup Gabs?"

Gabby:
"Just wanted to say your hair looks nice and your mom is really pretty"

Brill!!

For everyone going on about Holt, how often do managers moving clubs actually "bring someone with them"..?

Not very often. Remember last year, "at least McLeish might bring Foster/Dann/Johnson with him".

Let's worry about appointing the manager first.

It's absolutely astonishing! That sort of thing makes us look very small-minded indeed.

Maybe Lambert could coach Gabby to tell Bent things like "your eyes sparkle like diamonds", or "I really like your hair today".

Edit: doh, really must read the whole thread before I start trying to be a clever dick...

He's probably gutted nobody bit on Martinez, giving him a nice fat compo payout.
The shrivelled old bollock.
This is the first sensible comment about Martinez I've read on here since MON walked out.

At Norwich Lambert had Holt (goalscorer), Jackson (speed merchant) and Morison (target man), and he rotated them throughout the season.  For me, Bent and Gabby are similar but better players than Holt and Jackson, so that would leave the traditional style target man.  He's not exactly had the best of times at Wolves, but what about Kevin Doyle?

Actually, both Holt and Morison are target men. It wasn't overly subtle.

Can we not look abroad and find someone decent? Much like Newcastle have done. Enough of these Premier League players who are constantly embroiled in relegation battles with their clubs.
