I cannot find anything to confirm he has walked out on Norwich.

But if it all goes through I suggest the first thing Paul Lambert does is offer Agbonlahor in a straight swop for Grant Holt.

Then at least we would have a proper centre forward for next season.

I am not thrilled by Gabby's contribution for the last 6 months, but bollocks to that deal. I repeat Holt has one season wonder written all over him. Norwich rejected a £5 million bid for him in January, so would probably want more, he's fat and he's getting on. He is exactly the sort of player we should be avoiding.

Holt put in a transfer request at the end of the season and according to Norwich fans who rang in to Talksport it was down to the breakdown in relationship between him and Lambert

Is Martinez out of the frame yet? - not according to the Guardian:
Quote
Roberto Martínez is still in the running for the manager's position at Aston Villa, despite reports linking Paul Lambert with the vacancy.

Martínez turned down Villa last summer and recently had talks with Liverpool but that will not be held against the Wigan Athletic manager.

Lambert was understood to have had a far from amicable meeting with the Norwich City board on Wednesday night and has now joined his Wigan rival as a frontrunner to take charge at Villa Park.

Both Lambert (42) and Martínez (38) match Villa's criteria of wanting a young and ambitious manager with a proven track record of handling a Premiership club. The successful candidate must also be popular with Villa fans after the unfavourable reception the club's previous manager, Alex McLeish, received on his appointment last June.

Lambert is understood to have been angered by Norwich's refusal to allow him to talk to Villa, with the club having previously promised they would fight to retain his services. The Scot guided Norwich to back-to-back promotions before enjoying an impressive first season in the Premier League.

Randy Lerner, the Villa owner, stated when McLeish was sacked that he was looking to bring in a "new manager who sees the club's potential and embraces our collective expectations".

I thought Darren Bent was a proper centre forward, his record seems to suggest that! They can keep Holt, somebody has to eat all of Delia's burnt offerings. Can we give them Warnock as Lambert's compo?

john, it's only you I think that thinks Whelan has to defend his cubs honour or something.
Nobody is attacking Wigan and he's not a popular figure there. They think he's a bigger prick than I do.

I love underdogs and I love characters just like you do, but your admiration is wasted on this nasty, petty, chinese-trainer-wrangling, pound-chasing, decrepit old monkey rectum. He's not defending anything, he's going out of his way to slag other clubs off for no reason other than inflate his ego.

Would it be wrong to mention Mark Hughes 2011?

To me, we've already got a far superior version of Holt in Darren Bent. What Lambert needs to work on (if he ends up here - don't want to tempt fate) is not replacing Agbonlahor but making sure Bent is complimented by him. Norwich have that lad Jackson who is a tricky speedster and he and Holt seem to be able to play together. With A-list versions of those players, Lambert may not need to delve too deeply into replacing strikers.

I wouldn't rule out Martinez yet, Whelan said that N'Zogbia would go to a bigger club than Villa last summer and we know what happened there.

We can never be sure but if we were looking to start throwing money at this project again, it could be argued there would have been managers with a perceived higher profile in the mix. I'm thinking guys like AVB, Benitez, Capello and that type.

Well yes, but Benitez has been used to be able to pay £18m on a right-back, for example. So there are coaches around who have, and perhaps would still expect, to be paying big money for players, which is silly money, and not where we want to be heading again.

I'd rather get someone in who can use money smartly.

I think Rodgers will work, I think Lambert will work if it happens.

Liverpool is a MASSIVE job for a 39 year old manager. Depends if he's got the self belief and time to get it right. Couple be a really good appointment. Gutted we didnt get him. Think AV would have been a better career move for him.

Very  similar to AVB at Chavski.

But I dont give a shit about them .   Lambert is nothing like MON , he has plan b's and plan c's and plan d's  , MON didnt have a plan B .

MON = bring Carew off and bring Heskey on .

Lambert:
"Och Gabby, we need to get you complimenting Benty"

Gabby:
"Ok boss, i'll work on it"

Next day.........

Gabby:

"Benty, come here"

Bent:
"Whassup Gabs?"

Gabby:
"Just wanted to say your hair looks nice and your mom is really pretty"
