You're Bonnie Tyler and I claim my £5.

What loud, annoying and likes to chase schoolboys about and calling them brighteyes.

I like how this is announced in the media - both radio 1 & 5 news state that since Whelan has announced Martinez is staying at Wigan, Lambert has become favourite to be Villa boss.

How is it that that round faced northern cock is omnipresent in our managerial searches. My one wish for the Villa next year (after winning the league/FA Cup double) is that we send Wigan down on the last day of the season.

By a scoreline of about 68-0 as well.

Dave Whelan - self important prick.

Happy enough with lambert.

Makes it more delicious Norwich (who had to pay compensation for stealing him from Colchester) are pissed off about it.

Doubly better that we rejected Martinez and Whelan is left looking like a twat (is it wrong I want to see them relegated next season?).

I don't like him either, but how is he a twat? Looks to me like he managed (in his own way) to keep his key employee for another season.

In the same way that I managed to keep a tin of tartan paint I couldnt sell on ebay.
He is a twat. He's trying to mug everybody off that his manager is the very top of the fod chain when the reality is he was on the end of 2 "thanks but no thanks in as many days". And apparently Aston Villa, one of the most successful and largest clubs in the country aren't big enough for him.

Silly old bell end. I'd love the club to come out and put him in his place but they quite rightly won't waste their time with such an unimportant peripheral gobshite like him.
That's the difference with those with class and those without. You dont do your talking through the gutter media.

If him being like MON means we have wembley visits and top6 finishes - I'll take that over the last two seasons.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll be making £20 million plus net outlays each summer and (fortunately) won't be maxing out on player wages. I doubt mon would take us to top 6 finishes with the current squad and strategy. Let's see how he does with Sunderland

Can someone tell me why he is supposed to be like MON?

He's not really like MON at all. A very lazy association in my opinion.
There are some obvious connections but that's all they are.

I'm going to call him Larry. It will probably wear off as soon as you all tell me I'm being a tit.

I'm calling him Lambers. I don't care what the rest of you think.

he will be our own version of David Moyes, in ten years time people will be saying
'he's done great at Villa with limited resources, OK they havent won anything , but they have consistantly finished in the top 8 most seasons'

for those who really wanted Moyes, you have just got the younger version

If you want to make MON comparisons you could make some positive ones like they are both winners as players and managers. Both won plenty of caps and medals, including the European Cup and both took small clubs into the Premier League and made them competitive in the Premier League, finishing above bigger clubs.

I think a bit of revisionist history is going on here. Wasn't too many days ago that 'pubehead' was getting a right old roasting on these pages, and even before PL has been annointed we've got all these comparisons going on. It's like the written equivalent of Pubehead and mini Pubehead's Greatest Hits Volume 1.

Wasn't Bent the one convinced it would be Lambert? If so then he can't be unhappy with the appointment. I hope we find a young target man though and not Holt.

I wouldn't complain at Bent and Holt upfront next season with 35 goals between them.

Rather disparaging remarks from BBC Sport

'Villa are not the enticing proposition they once were, and Norwich are no 'country cousins' by comparison - Carrow Road's 22,000 season tickets last season matched that sold at Villa Park. '
So even at their peak they just about managed our lowest point. History shows (even Sky history) that we are amongst the top 5/6 in England.

I think you're right John.  The club thought they were getting the new Moyes last year apparently, but they actually got the new Barry Fry.
