OK here I am going to muddy the waters further. Spoke to Pat Murphy at Trent Bridge today. He does not know who the manager may be but thinks the board are considering DiMatteo in the event Chelsea don't - he wasn'timpressed with the idea. Told him my preference was Lambert. He also mentioned the 30year anniversary of Rotterdam yesterday, thought Saunders was brilliant and is a huge fan of Cloughie (no shit). He thinks Lerner is a poor leader and agreed with the line I nicked from someone here - Ellis was a crap owner but a decent chariman whereas LErner is the opposite. And he thought Houllier and McLeish would be car crashes - or maybe that was me telling him they would be.

Pat Murphy doesn't know his arse from his elbow. The waters are no more or less muddy than before you posted that.

Fair enough - you obviously know better. TWAT! Seem to remember he broke the O'Neill story and Sky ignored it until he was being driven to the ground.

Do let me know when you have  a better insight.

You should have told him you write for the Heroes & Villains fanzine and are interviewing Randy Lerner next week.

Really don't want Di Matteo. He was rubbish for WBA, he's just a good fit for Chelsea. History with the club, and lenient on the super stars. I don't think he would sort out our squad.

I wouldn't mind Di Matteo, he wasn't rubbish at West Brom he got them promoted after getting MK Dons 3rd in the table.
Actually West Brom played some decent football under him and at the time I thought it was an unfair sacking even though they were struggling.

At Chelsea he did what was needed to be done at the time to get the right results, I think even I could stand negative football if we won something.

Spot on, same for me too

to defensive, i'm absolutely pig sick of being bored shitless at Villa Park, sick to death of the dross served up,
i want someone with an attacking mentality, i'm to old for negative tacktics i want some fun

To say RDM is defensive is based on their CL games.  Chelsea used tactics and a game plan to beat Barca and Bayern, two of the best teams in Europe.  They were hardly defensive when they beat Spurs 5-1 or QPR 6-1.  He would be good for us.

he's Italian, Negative is there default position
no amount of your stats will change that, there is no such thing as a Italian manager who has the same philosophy on playing football as say Martinez or Rogers or Wenger or Beilsa it just doesnt happen

you can make a case on the internet for him, but in the end he will be defensive, especially if he hasnt got players who are better than the opposition which is what he will have at Villa for the main part

this does not mean he cant be successful, he might even play winning football, but the backbone of his tactics will be negative, and any one that tells you different is talking nonsense

Look if you have an issue with Pat Murphy (and clearly you do) then I can' thelp you. I am not qualified and indeed I won't be working for MI5 - what is your point? Anything constructive to offer? Anything at all?
