I see Whelan is spouting again this morning, reckons that RM will snub Liverpoo to stay at Wigan. Meanwhile, Brucey is in line for the Hull job but is holding off in case the Wigan one becomes vacant! Well, I guess that's his level! Wilkins? Hardly 'young and hungry' is he? Baggies also strongly linked to Hughton and Ranieri, it seems that everyone is casting their nets this time doesn't it?

Meanwhile our board are 'relaxed'. Good news, that means that by the time they get around to appointing someone all the Bosman frees worth having will have been signed up elsewhere and they'll have to spend!

The danger with waiting for Liverpoo is not that they get the man we want, but rather the man that we want gets pissed at us for waiting and goes elsewhere! I don't think that we should be afraid to go 'head to head' with Liverpoo for a manager anyway, overall I think we're a better option right now for the 'young and hungry' type!

Martinez would benefit from going Wigan>Villa>Liverpool, rather than going straight to Liverpool. But, I want what's best for AVFC, not them bin dipping bastards, but if it means him bringing a few years of relative sucess before fucking off then so be it...

I think Martinez would actually be better staying at Wigan and getting a top half finish with them next season if he believes that he's good enough, then he'd have more than us and 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' to pick from I think. At the moment he's riding on the back of his last nine games while everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten the years of dross that preceded them.

Liverpool are no great shakes these days, so I want a manager that will at least bring us to their present level so that going from us to them would be a sideways step at best.

Apologies if it has already been mentioned, but today's Evening Mail is reporting that Villa are ready to make an offer to Martinez that would make him the highest paid manager in the club's history.  No mention on how much he will get to spend on players just that he will be personally offered a big wage.  Also hints that he will be given control over how the club is run in a way that he wouldn't be at Liverpool.

Could be speculation, but sounds like he is the one they will go after should he decide not to take the job at Liverpool.

I've just stuck £20 on Glenn Hoddle.

Really pissed off he was, I used superglue.

Rafa Benitez for me.  A proven winner and a better option than anyone in the poll imo.  In fact, any chance he could be added?  I'd be keen to see what people think of him as a potential candidate.

I've just been looking at the OS squad lists, but particularly looking at the coaching staff. Can anyone confirm or otherwise how accurate it is?

If it's about right, I'd say the new guy could be given a good hand at restructuring this and bringing in his own people. It seems that we have more medics and masseurs than coaches, and no GK coaches at all!

Breaking news today that Jose Sandoval's contract is not being renewed at Rayo Vallecano, so he's leaving his position there. Could be an interesting option.

Better off sticking £20 on Michaelangelo in 3.45 at Goodwood. My money is on Lambert now.
Whelan saying Martinez may turn down scousers and stay..or what?
Lambert is too quiet and I'll stick with him.

Cant see Rafa being interested in us now tbh. Probably was last year when we had Young, Downing & Bent andpossibly thought we had loads to spend after spending £18-24m on a striker. But not now.

So yesterday Mat Kendrick tweeted we have have made no contact with Martinez, yet today he writes a report stating we're prepared to make him the highest paid manager in our history.

Make your mind up Mat.

If the latter is correct , Randy best remember to stick a sub-40point release clause in the contract, I think we'll need it.
