I don't get all this rampant ageism. And why does the next manager have to be malnourished?

For all we know 'balding and wobbly' could soon be the new 'young, hungry and vibrant'.

For me there are only two criteria that should rule anyone out of the running

a) is he a twat?
b) does he intend to pick any of  Hutton, Collins, Dunne and Warnock?

Have I missed something? Why is Benitez suddenly the favourite?

Because more people have put money on him than they have anyone else today.  The bookies odds are purely driven by where the money is being placed at the time.  It means very little usually.

Because someone put a bet on, his odds fell a bit, and then others bet too, so they fell a bit more, and now seeing that lots have bet in case the fall means something, and thus have driven him into favourite, based on SFA. On BetFair since Ole pulled out only about 20k had been bet in 2 days, so I doubt it is going to take a lot to move someone from 100-1 down to 10-1 inside an hour.

Maybe people betting care as much about the next manager as much as they care about our team

have we become an irrelevance to the rest of the world  :'(

Well yeh I understand that, it just seems a bit strange that someone would go from not being in the top 10, to being favourite within a day. I suppose the bookies have literally no idea who we're going to appoint.

Martinez would be crazy to go to Pool, only top four would satisfy their deluded supporters, we on the other hand would give him plenty of time to settle in, at least til xmas anyway.

Yep - Wilkins as coach/assistant to a foreign manager would work for me.

What a difference a week makes, all that positivity has been eroded now and it's replaced by speculation and horror for the most part.

Next manager betting isn't that popular, so swings in who is the favourite will be quite extreme. The bookies will follow the money and trends, that's all they are interested in.

... And that's his anti-Martinez statement for today.  And no more people agree or disagree with him than yesterday.  Stand by for tomorrow's, same time, same place...
