Out of interest, why is Benitez not even an option in the poll?  He is a proven Premier League manager that we have been linked with before.  It seems odd that he is not even being considered on this thread, especially given some of the other names listed.

I actually think Martinez could be good, but only if he is given the backing to overhaul the squad. We need to get rid of the bad apples and bring in a lot of fresh faces. He set up the legacy for Swansea, which is bearing fruit now. I think if he is given proper backing he could be a success at Villa and get us playing good stuff.

Because he's not 'young and vibrant' I would imagine.

If the latter is correct , Randy best remember to stick a sub-40point release clause in the contract, I think we'll need it.

This should be a clause in every manager's contract.

nobody has a clue about who will take over ast the mo and that includes the twins I've been calling for calm but fuck it. We need someone in asap to start making strategic decisions on the squad we have and identifying and recruiting new players. As long as its not any of the old guard  don't give shiney shite from Lambert Martinez or Poyet.

So yesterday Mat Kendrick tweeted we have have made no contact with Martinez, yet today he writes a report stating we're prepared to make him the highest paid manager in our history.

Make your mind up Mat.

I think it's fairly obvious that there is no conflict between those two stories. We haven't contacted him yet but when we do we'll go in hard.

The thread title asks the question who do us fans want as the next manager.  I didn't realise that being "young and vibrant" was a prerequisite for us fans voting on who we would like to get the job.

Following on from my earlier post, I think it's really important that whoever the manager is they are given a proper chance by the club. What I mean is that they can't be shackled by, 'you can only choose one staff member to add', 'you can only have a couple of players' etc. They have to be able to pick their own staff, regardless of the reprecussions for those who are at the club presently. They also have to be able to bring in several players and ship out(if possible) those they don't want. It can't be a half measure approach this time.

100% agree we have to let the next manager have time to bulid, even if we flirt with relegation again next season we have to stick with whoever it may be and trust them to overhaul and improve the club in the years to come.

Mick McCarthy was 2-1 at one stage - want him added to?

You can vote other and specify Rafa if you wish, but changing the poll again is pointless, it was created from the top 10 with the bookies on the day (2 days back) and is reflective of the type we are being linked with.

Fair enough, but I think Rafa is a more likely candidate than some of the names in that top 10 list you mention.  I think he may be an option, I may well be wrong, either way I hope to God Simon Grayson doesn't get it.
