Mirror "journalism" without any basis. Twat on twatter.

@JamesNursey: Looks like #AVFC  been holding out for Martinez (long shot) with Lambo on backburner as AV think they can get him (whatever Lambo says).

In other words, like most of us he has'nt got a clue.

I wouldn't want any of the shit Londonvilla has suggested.

I'd consider Di Matteo, once Chelsea have fucked him off.

That's not a bad shout at all. And I think he might consider it. After all, if he'd take the Albion job...

Depending on what happens with Martinez I would have thought Liverpool would be watching that situation, as well as a lot of other clubs.

@edwardlear: on the top of the Crumpetty Tree the Quangle Wangle sat but his face you could not see on account of his Beaver Hat #avfc

I think that Poyet is still our number one target.

Photo manipulation and so on is part of my work and I would be confident that neither of those photos are fake.
Not that I'm all that bothered. Very bizarre having an interview walking the streets of a major city though.

I can't imagine that Lambert is an alternative to Martinez. I would have thought it would be the other way around.
Lots of bullshit flying about and to be honest I'm getting pretty bored with it.

The more I think about this, the more I'm convinced that this next appointment is going to be a bit of a departure to what we're expecting.

Everybody is expecting us to go for Martinez and Lambert - but equally if we go back to the original statement from the board, the following lines:

Villa chairman Randy Lerner said: "We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years.

"Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.

"The most immediate action that we can take is to look carefully at our options in terms of bringing in a new manager who sees the club's potential and embraces our collective expectations."

I think that if we can read between these lines, the often flung around names are not going to fit that bill at all. What it seems to be heading towards is a completely leftfield departure from the names that we are normally linked with - in my opinion, OGS was just the start - if the board are looking at young and dynamic managers, such as him, then it should probably give us a decent hint of the direction that we are looking at.

So (thankfully!), I think we can forget all the controversial names for the timebeing and look a bit more at the fringes of the betting...

If I had £10, I'd put it very sneakily on AVB at the moment. Just got that feeling about it for some reason...

It's just my opinion, and quite simply, it might be bollocks and I'll be the first in the queue to get a shoeing when we appoint Grayson, but it's just what I'm thinking right now.

I had high hopes that they had somebody in mind when they sacked TSM and would just go get him. We probably are going about it the right way, it's just the fear we all have that it could pan out like our recent manager searches.

This has to be a good appointment. We cannot afford to make a third consecutive balls of a managerial appointment.

It wouldn’t surprise me that we had identified our target but KKK’s sacking has changed things.

Sadly I think we’ll have to wait until after Liverpool appoint their manager as at the very least “our guy” will be using that vacancy for leverage to get a better deal for himself (at worst waiting to see whether they offer him the job).

The big fat blistering question remains: is the board capable of anything else?

Whilst getting the right man is crucial, I think that doing it quickly is very important too. There is a lot of work to do this summer.

I'm more interested in whether any incoming manager will have a reasonable (25-30 mil) amount to improve the squad. Unlike many of our posters i don't think the squad was good enough to get mid table last season and no matter who the incoming manager is we will have the same problem next season if Randy doesn't spend.

Good for you. He would be a disaster for us though.
Why would he be a disaster for us?
I think he would be good, he would bring passion, flair, strong leadership, and a winning mentality.

And march into the sudetenland.

New ground for me. Who plays there?

I think its a shared venue between two home teams.  A bit like the San Siro I gather.
I believe that Schutzstaffel F.C. shared the ground with their close neighbours F.C. Waffen Schutzstaffel. Strangely both clubs went out of business at the same time in 1945.
Waffen Schutzstaffel had a policy of taking in players from other teams they had beaten and turning them into prototype Joey Barton's.
The other odd thing about the two clubs was that they both played in the same colours, black with silver trimmings.
