AVB in from 40/1 to 25/1     i dont think it was my £20 that did it

dont be surprised if it did

The quid I put on Klinsmann brought him down from 50/1 to 40/1 momentarily.

Who does these odds?

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/aston-villa-specials/next-permanent-manager

Heskey 100/1 ? O'Leary 33/1 ? or 80/1? Merson? Andy bloody Gray! Keegan?

Does anybody put any money on any of the above?

Its like these stupid stories you hear of someone putting a fiver on their 5 year old son being in outer space or scoring in the cup final before they are 30 and putting it in a forcast double with a snowflake falling on the BBC weather centre on Xmas day 2032. Twats.

I suppose it's worth noting that we spoke to him Friday, but then said it was part of an ongoing process.  All the various tidbits were then coming from the Norwegian side.

Behind the scenes, we could have been continuing our search and just confirmed that OGS was no longer a candidate.

yep. either you take what they and pelty have said on face value or speculate they've been playing some odd game for no reason at all.

It's precisely what they and pelty have said the process is, that's the problem. As Liverpool also seem to be finding.

I know it's nailed on Dowie but if he gets a better offer what about camp comedian Alan Carr? He might persuade his dad to come and scout for us and he's worked wonders at Newcastle. It would probably piss Graham Norton off too which won't be a bad thing. Oh, and Greg which would be brilliant.

I dont see why AVB is out of the question.
He's still a young manager finding his way. He's not Guus Hiddink.
Plus he's out of work.

By all accounts he's looking for a long term project to get his teeth into. Well, that's exactly what we are.
I wouldn't be at all suprised if he was a target.

Brian McDermott from Reading? He's done a great job there and plays an attacking style of football.

Surely the time to judge whether the process works or not is when we (and liverpool) actually appoint a manager, instead of using little snippets of info to come to a conclusion on the overall process? We don't know what's going on behind the scenes in either scenario, so how you can claim it to be shambolic is beyond me.

Me neither. He's what, 34 years old? Chelsea was a big step up for him, probably (well, definitely, if you consider how things panned out for him there) too big for him at the time - they wanted him to overhaul the first team squad but then panicked when he started to do that and results were disappointing. With us, he'd get that patience, I'd hope. And I don't think he'd need to particularly need a big budget to spend; he's got, by all accounts, a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of European footballers.

The comments from his agent about wanting a project are telling, I think. Both Liverpool and Roma would expect more immediate success than us - Champions League football at the end of season one. I don't see why we shouldn't be in the running.

I don't want AVB, I don't think he's what we need or can afford.

Grayson didn't do abad job at Leeds in the circumstances and has done well with Huddersfield, though I really hope he fails on Saturday.

Lambert is a younger MON.

Rodgers wouldn't move and it could be argued his 'success' is down to Martinez.

Martinez has had some good results but flirts with relegation (slightly better than TSM at the Shit).

OGS was unproven in a big league but is a known winner, I think it's precisely because nobody had an opinion about him that he captured the imagination; there was nothing negative to say.

Zola would play nice football. Poyet is an up-and-coming manager with nothing negative that could be said. Ranieri would struggle, there is nothing to tinker with.

Peter Withe wants it.

I think though, AVB all depends on budgets available. IF, and it is a massive one, Randy says to him you have 30 million in fees for the next 2 seasons, so basically an investment of 60 million from him, plus player sales, would it appeal to a manager like AVB, maybe it would.

There are other options though. Zola, Steve Clarke and Wilkins might be worth a look, young manager to front it, with well respected coaching team.

The guy at Lille is quite young and clearly a good manager - Garcia is it - if we are being ambitious is he worth a call?

Michael Laudrup? Out of work and done ok in his managerial career so far, mid 40's and wants to get back in, respected world over.

Koeman? Not a fan myself but would bring something to the table surely?

Frank Rijkaard maybe worth a conversation?

The point being there must be other OGS rated people out there.
