We may end up with no alternative.

Yes paulie, the multiple candidates thing really ticks me off. Having OGS over then filing him away really left him up shit creek with his employers. He probably would have accepted on Friday or Saturday, he seemed keen enough when answering those questions from the Molde board.

So this process has put off maybe the best candidate, and also maybe the decent other options. What a shit double-whammy.

No evidence yet that the board aren't just as incompetent as last time. More imaginitive, I'll give them that.

Maybe he wasn't their first choice as they were just sounding him out? Like they've sort of said all along? not being funny percy, but its possible that just because people want him on here, doesn't mean he was No.1 on the board's list.

Ok, so looking at the Premiership as it stands, and ignoring the recently promoted sides for now, who would be desirable and possibly obtainable.

Apart from Moyes who I doubt would come anyway, there's Mark Hughes (no ta) and perhaps Martin Jol, who I think has done a decent job on the quiet.

I suppose it's worth noting that we spoke to him Friday, but then said it was part of an ongoing process.  All the various tidbits were then coming from the Norwegian side.

Behind the scenes, we could have been continuing our search and just confirmed that OGS was no longer a candidate.

yep. either you take what they and pelty have said on face value or speculate they've been playing some odd game for no reason at all.

So we will start the season with the same doubts as last season. Can't see Lerner letting that happen.
I am giving Lerner the benefit of the doubt and trusting him not to make the same mistake again.
Maybe a lot to ask but iv'e just got a feeling we are in for a nice surprise. I will  have to eat these words but that's the gamble.

If they can't get the man they want, I say give K-Mac a shot.

I'd much rather him than someone from the McCarthy/Curbishley pool of managers.

If they won't come, it makes it difficult for Lerner.

There are quite a few in the Championship I could happily rally behind......Hughton, Mackay, Poyet, Dyche, Howe & Freedman

How about Freeman, Hardy & Willis? If the shoe fits....

I think if this time last week we had all put our heads together and drawn up a list of potential "young, hungry" managers who would be right for us, nobody would have mentioned Solskjaer.

To that extent, they did quite well thinking of him themselves (assuming it wasn't passed down to them as a suggestion from Lord Ferguson of Trafford).

What we now have to hope is that they can do that again, and think of another exciting, left-field young manager to approach.

Appreciated, but i think he will get us a good deal this time. The OGS thing is not over yet,a few twists and turns to come with that one at a later date i think.

AVB ticks the boxes for me the more I think about it – and we'd be an ideal club for him to come and make a mark in the PL. We have a younger group of players probably more receptive to modern thinking and our awkward gang of oldies can be disposed of a lot easier than Chelsea's mafia could. I know he's been linked to Liverpool but surely he'd encounter similar problems there as he did at Chelsea. When you're trying to teach new tricks it's much easier to do it with puppies than old dogs.

The problem with AVB is he'd want and need a good wedge to make it work.  He won't further tarnish his reputation by bobbing around mid-table.

Does anyone know how long RL is over here for?  Will he be in the UK until we find our manager?
