I'd be happy with either Lambert or AVB, but not with Martinez.

I don't get the Martinez love-in, but each to their own opinion! It's still Lambert for me, I just think he'd be a great fit, however, a Frank Rijkard (sp?) type wouldn't go amiss if Norwich want silly compo for him!

Lambert and Martinez both have 3 years left on their present contracts I believe, not that that really makes any difference these days!
Neither do I - he gets Wigan to play for about 7 games a season.

I do wonder why Martninez only gets his teams to play when it matters and that puts me off. The last thing we want is another relegation scrap.

Because Wigan lose their best players every summer, it seems to take a while for the replacements to get going.

Please god not Martinez.

Don't be fooled that his stock has risen over the past month just because they've won a few games with the relegation monster snapping at their arseholes. All it proves is the guy struggles with motivating his players until fear and crisis forces the issue on his behalf.

Let Liverpool have him. Believe me, they'll turn into an easy touch overnight, like a bunch a pretty boys with the underbelly of a marshmallow.

And if you want some stats, how about these:

26% win ratio over the last three seasons.

Spurs 9 - Wigan 1

Chelsea 8 - Wigan 0

Fabio (Technical director) and AVB (head coach) as a nice cheap option.

Martinez is favourite with the bookies and I dont want him. Reasons - dont want another manager who is fighting relegation every season with his previous club. And if anyone says what about the style of football? Well it can't be that good as Wigan are favourites to go down every year, so in my opinion its not good enough.

Lambert is second fave and I dont want him. Reasons - well I remember George Burley having a great first season, Phil Brown another...what makes Lambert so special. Reminds me of another Oneill, plays with 2 lumps up front and is teams work hard. Didnt McLeish's Birmingham have the tag of "hard workers"?

I feel Villa need to move with the times, when was the last time we had a manager with real credentials. Not I worked in Scotland and won some pots, not I blew £150 million and relegated a club and not I once played for a season at Villa! We need right now, not next season or 10, right now we need a real manager who know the science of football from top to bottom. Someone who has European pedigree, someone who commands respect for what he has achieved in the game, someone like Wenger who sensed his club needed a vision.

Im fed up of half arsed appointments who last 1 year and get sacked. I blame Lerner and Faulkner for being as clueless as the ginger guy we had in charge 10 minutes ago, and its now up to them to show "US" what real credentials they have in getting the right man for many years in charge of our club.

Absolutely agree. Martinez teams are not only a soft touch, but utterly shit. I'd be very disappointed if we were to get him in, and he turned us down last summer. No thanks.

Yep, the next Arsene Wenger would be nice.

But who would that be exactly?

Isn't it completely ace that we are arguing over who the next Villa manager should be in a non-hypothetical manner?

You can't possibly be comparing Lambert with McLeish. Lambert got Norwich into the Prem from League 1 in three seasons, and did well with them in their first season back in the top division.

The only thing that I can see going against us with Lambert is Martin O'Neill having a word with him.

Is this Martinez the manager of Wigan.....who have a wage bill, a quarter of ours, who sell their best players at the start of every season, who demolished Noocastle with a performance i have'nt seen down VP since BFR in his pomp, who beat Ure, Lplop, Arse, more than we have this season.

Our sights have been lowered, and for me a Martinez, Lambert, Or Rogers would be the right move for us at the moment.
