Isn't it completely ace that we are arguing over who the next Villa manager should be in a non-hypothetical manner?

Yep, and even better that I wouldn't mind any of the names being mentioned.  Lambert, Martinez, Rodgers, AVB, di Matteo.  Not fussy!

Ranieri wants the job according to ssn - at least we are attracting managers already.

Ranieri? Not a bad option, that.

I think given the brief that the new manager will have, it can only be one of a few choices namely Rodgers, Lambert, Poyet or Martinez. As known as Ranieri is, I just cannot see him working under such strict conditions.
Of course I shall now be praying to my Louis Van Gaal shrine in the vein belief that he'll see us a challenge where he could build a lasting legacy.

Ranieri wants a job because he keeps getting fired. Has anyone been fired as much as him?

I wouldn't mind McDermott from reading, I think he is from the same school of thoughts the likes of lambert and rogers i.e playing good football.

Seen him on goals on Sunday a couple of weeks a go and he came across very well, seem to have a good knowledge and some passion.

Only problem is that he has not been tested in premier league but neither had lambert or rogers.

Don't think we'll be competing at top end for a little while so I'd like to see some good football while a young manager with passion rebuilds the squad.

I'm quite surprised at the anti Martinez idea. After all Rogers' success with Swansea surely can be attributed to the foundations Martinez put down at the club before moving on. What he's achieving with Wigan is pretty fantastic year in year out, while playing good football.

I'm not sure who I want to be honest. I wouldn't be upset if Martinez or Lambert came rocking up at VP.

Poyet would be a risky - but exciting - appointment.

I disagree, think he's another McLeech with a better CV. Someone like Poyet would be an exciting gamble, but of those in the poll above, Lambert is easily the best option given the squad that he'll inherit and the experience he has to date, at least IMHO.
