I think the range of managers people would be happy to accept will be gigantic compared to this time last year, having had a year of McLeish's brand of "football".

It is a very, very important point. The next manager has the perfect scenario to walk into.

Would love Moyes, think he'd be swapping like for like by joining us, but what a lift it would be if indeed he walked into B6.
When Houlier was going many asked for a ginger scotsman, Randy got us a ginger scotsman.  ;D

Moyes has spent a decade 'making do' with limited resources. I doubt if he could see the point of moving to a similar club to start the same process again. He would want a fat pay rise and a monster transfer kitty. That's why we'll never get him,

We need someone who can restore pride at the club via performances on the pitch. I'm not saying we have to immediately start playing like Barcelona, but it would be nice to have a manager who isn't afraid to stand up to the top clubs and 'have a go' especially at Villa Park.

As we don't have big money to spend I think we need someone who can uncover gems abroad and use loans effectively, while bringing through youngsters on merit from the reserves. Our academy talent tends to produce technically sound players who get the ball down and play passing football, so we could do with a manager that fits that model.

Having read that back to myself Martinez looks a good shout. I just pray we do end up with a new manager because another McLeish season doesn;t bear thinking about.

Of who would be available or come here then I'd like Lambert. He's done a great job at Norwich and actually seems to play football...

Lambert’s statement about the speculation certainly left hope that he would be interested if/when there is a vacancy.
Looking at his past he is very ambitious and arguably his loyalty could be questioned (Burnley approach excepted) so it would not be a shock if he wanted to move.  I think this Norwich job is the longest he has been at one club.

After today, I'd probably settle for A. N. Other.

Bruce or McCarthy? For fan reaction, see McLeish, Alex.

I saw a bit of Goals on Sunday earlier, Lambert was on, I had this vision of him being our manager next season - don't know why but I reckon he'll be coming.....pssst pass it on.
