The more I think about Lambert in our dug out, the more the idea sounds bettet and better. Just a gut feeling but I think he'd be very good.
Would love him here but why would he leave Norwich to come to us?

(*Runs for cover behind soaf!*) ;-)
Sorry, meant "sofa"!

we pay top 20 in Europe managers wages,
theres enough decent managers out there that would be tempted by that alone

Agreed, but my point was about Lambert in particular and as an example of other promising managers - eg Rodgers.
I'm pretty sure AM was/is tempted by the money but he's still a shit manager as far as we can all see, and I don't want more of the same. Just paying some bloke a lot of money doesn't mean anything significant will happen more than him being paid a lot of money.
I think Lambert/ Rodgers /Martinez would make a difference because they seem to have a philosophy/style about the game which is what I like about them.
At the moment I don't see our club as an attractive proposition to good, young managers such as these.
I really hope I'm wrong.

I reckon Martinez would accept the offer of an interview this year, if it's offered.  He's been loyal enough now to Wigan and won't take them any further. Could be a good fit for Villa.  Used to working with a tight budget, has an eye for flair, has an eye for a bargain.

The next manager at Villa should have 30% to 40% of his salary performance based. If we do crap his 30 to 40% down on the agreed salary package.

That's a lovely utopian outlook, but that's not going to attract the quality we need unfortunately.

I 100% believe that this should be the sort of structure that many clubs look to, but whilst cash is king, it's never going to happen :(

Withe told the Birmingham Sunday Mercury: "I don't want to talk about what is currently happening at the club, but I want to manage Aston Villa and there is no point in my disguising that fact.

"I had a fantastic nine or 10 years at that great club and it would be a dream for me to lead them, an absolute dream.

"If the opportunity to manage Villa came up, I would grab it with both hands and I know I would be able to put that club back where it belongs."

First of all, it's unacceptable to talk about a job while it isn't vacant. Second, look at his record in England - it's poor to say the least. Villa legend, but no thanks.

Maybe it was Withey's cryptic way of saying 'i could do a better job than Mcleish'.

Would rather Withe remained a legend and not take the job. Would be hard if he did not succeed.

Maybe, but he was still touting for another manager's job, which is something you just don't do.

I'll make a prediction now that you can all rip to pieces  if it doesn't happen.
If / when AM goes, we will go for a coach not a manager and that person will be Italian. And he's doing a temporary job at the moment.

My cat could do a better job than McLeish, doesn't mean I'm putting her up for the job.
Peter Withe is a legend, but his record as a manager is abysmal.

With the Lerner/Faulkner knowledge of the football world being what it is, I assume you're talking about one of the waiters at your local pizzaria...

Very good.
This bit should be taken with a pinch of salt as with all ITK's........I heard yesterday that an exploratory approach has been made to the gentleman in question.
