Dear me - we do get very excitable over a made up story with no quotes in a newspaper, don't we?

Its not the whether the story is right or wrong, its the sort of player McLeish will attract!
We know it from past and present experience and the press know it, so that's what will happen Im afraid

Sorry.  You're right and I completely agree.  Alex McLeish will sign Karl Henry for next season.  He won't be Villa manager, but he will sign him!

I'd think that not even McLeish or Henry's mom would think he was the answer to our ball retention and creativity problems.

Hang on.  You’ve been moaning about McLeish for ages now, so it’s hardly the final straw.

You're right, I've been moaning about him since he arrived although I'm flattered anyone pays a blind bit of notice. That said I was actually defending him in saying that he is hardly likely to look at the carcass of the season and think 'You know what would have improved us, Karl Henry'. Nothing about it being the final straw as I think its patently bollocks.

It was PaulWinch who made the "last straw" comment.  I think he's seen a name with a P and a W in and got a bit confused! ;)

It was me and I will confess I've been moaning about Mcleish for a while!

Would love that to be true more than anyone, but just have this horrible sick feeling that McLeish will stay.

If it was 'caught offside' or another arsewipe football site like that I wouldn't take any notice.
But the fact that it's in the Guardian gives it a bit more credence.

Now, how many bullseyes do you think they have/will hit?

Eck praising Delph on OS.  Says he told him before he got crocked (yet again) 'You could save us a fortune.' If that is the level of his motivational speaking, no wonder we are finishing below Wigan, Swansea and Norwich.

When I saw the link on the Guardian site that said "McLeish looks to Henry to strengthen Villa", I thought 'There's no way Thierry Henry would play for us'. When I clicked and saw that it was Karl Henry, I uttered a long wail of despair which startled the fellow occupant of my office. It just cannot be true, but if it is it has to be the last straw. I stuck it  outthrough Turner and McNeill, but I think I'd have to take a break from all things Villa

Don't see anything wrong with that.
He's effectively saying
'You can be good enough, with your potential, to stop me shelling out for a new midfielder.

That's their summary of everyone else's rumours. They make a big joke out of how implausible most of them are in the 'Mill'.

However, they were the first ones to say Milner was going, Young was going, Downing was going, that there would be offers for Barry all that summer, N'Zogbia would sign for us and that Ireland was part of the Milner deal, among other very reliable 'inside' stories. They've got a better record than the Brum Mail. Now, if McLeish, as many expect, goes then this will make no difference, but I'll believe that he wants Karl Henry, regardless of if he gets him.

Not sure why people are surprised that McLeish is rumoured to be interested in Karl Henry.  On the face of it, he is exactly the type of player that would fit in to McLeish's style of football.

On another note, I'm amazed that we have not been linked with James McFadden yet.

Considering you breathlessly brought us this humourless piece of tedium as an example of your favourite newspaper writer, I think we can add amusing newspaper columns to the "list of things that we don't bother listening to UK Redsox about"
