'Ready' only became the Rangers motto in 1966, replacing 'Aye (always) Ready'.

I think I read on here that it was McGregor who introduced us to the Lion rampant.  Copying it from Rangers.

I don't believe that's true at all.

I've always thought it was the Scottish lion rather than Rangers he copied.

No the rampant lion was taken from Scottish heraldry by Ramsey I beleive .... but the blue from claret and blue comes from Rangers

The claret comes from the Claret tiles found in the Barton Arms

The colours were chosen by Ramsey andhis wife ....Ramsey choosing the Rangers blue and his wifethe claret

Dave will probably be,able to correct this

Really? Any connection with this?

And back to the matter at hand, I noted with interest that Stuart Downing was replaced in the second half yesterday by Andy Carroll. Oh, the humiliation.

It was David Sullivan who introduced the Rabbit Rampant.

Bully's special prize for that one.

I doubt it. Ramsay came to Birmingham around 1871. Rangers were founded in 1872.

Besides this, Queen's Park were by far the biggest team in Glasgow at the time.

But I thought we didn't start playing in C&B until later did we?

That suggest we DID start playing in claret and blue, then got rid of it, then changed back to it.
