I know its only been 1 day but I hope this doesnt drag on too long. Although as it seems to everyone if Lambert is the preferred choice weve got quite a struggle to get Norwich to let us talk to him in the 1st place after their statement.

I'm sure their statement was just a way of positioning themselves to get the most amount of compensation that they can for him.

Mick Dennis from the Express was talking on TS about Lambert. This must be qualified by the fact that he is a Norwich fan and who he works for but he always seems to make calm considered points and never reverts to cliche, so I do value his opinion.

His main reservation was the fact that Lambert is a MON acolyte and this may put him off but also count against him in the eyes of the owners. He couldn't praise him highly enough though.

Something about this situation that makes me very happy is that despite our awful season, we're still seen as a step up for someone like Lambert, despite Norwich finishing above us. There are big positives in that that we may take for granted.

Would much prefer Martinez but would happy be with Lambert.

Martinez:
Wigan Athletic    14 August 2009 to Present    P: 127    W: 34    D: 36    L: 57    26.77%
- only 5% better than F'eck.
Well at least we're used to it I suppose

Wigan have an average attendance of about 15 home fans and are far less superior club than Villa so dont think you can assume he will have same win rate as us!

If your criteria is a manager that has done well at Wigan under those conditions, you'd have to go for Martinezs predecessor, who has a superior win ratio.

But I wouldn't want Steve Bruce either.

Just realised this isnt really Lambert related. Isn't it time we had a separate Martinez thread?

Edit - there is one already- sorry

I heard the same conversation and wasn't aware of the link between Lambert and pubehead. That could throw a huge spanner in the works and would be just like him to do it as well.

Dave Whelan has said that villa have NOT approached him about speaking to Martinez.

Also on twitter, Tom Ross (yes I know) has tweeted saying that AVFC know who they want and would like to appoint him sooner rather than later.

Now with Whelan saying AVFC have not approached them about Martinez, I strongly believe that Lambert is the main candidate.

Wouldnt listen to anything that blue nose dinosaur says about our club. Its been 1 day so not suprised noone has been approached as yet. Probably not even finalised their shortlist as yet. Going by Faulkners interview (on BBC) they are only just starting to look.

Someone twittered earlier that one of the Norwich forums stated that Lambert has resigned...then it was quickly taken down.
I love the silly season...gut feeling is that we will get him though.

I heard the same interview and I was really impressed with what he said about Lambert and how he manages.

I am now in the Lambert camp after hearing his view.

Talksport employ Darren Gough as an expert football pundit. Enough said really.

Whelan can fuck off and take Martinez with him. If the board don't even try and get Lambert then they're mental. He's the man as far as I'm concerned. I think someone on here (or somewhere) expressed concern that he doesn't look to sign foreign players, but I believe he is on record saying that the money just wasn't available at Norwich.

Give him a couple of seasons and I believe he'll have us scrapping at the right end of the table again.
