IMHO MON and PL have nothing to do one with the other. MON can be a good players motivator, but as far as tactics are concerned is an old style manager that plays defensive football, whereas PL is a modern manager that loves entertainng, passing, attacking football and that at Carrow Road achieved great successes with second or third division players.

Indeed. All these rumours about Lambert being very similar to MON were started by Martin O'Neill.

You would hope a young up coming manager like Lambert would have a fresher more modern approach than MON. The guy has play all over Europe and would bring different ideas than the old 80's style MON tactics. 1 reason Id be worried if he was like MON would be bringing YET more average technically poor British footballers. Time to replace these plodders we have at this club and look to the way certain clubs are doing now (Newcastle) and other clubs have been doing for years (Arsenal).

I wouldn't mind him and Culverhouse if it is to believed that together they are at their strongest, anything has to be better than AM.

Lambert was recently quoted as saying that he couldn't afford the foreign players at Norwich, so you'd hope given more to spent he'd be looking outside the lower leagues to strengthen our squad.

Lambert would be a good choice i think, but would need time and patience. That said, i wouldn't expect him to under achieve in the first place like McLeish. if he came, without much backing i would expect us to go to mid-table next season with better football, if he gets backing then maybe challenge for the Europa league places. But if it didn't quite happen straight away, he would need to be given time.

In terms of keeping Bent, it comes back to the same argument as last summer with Young and Downing, if wants to go, let him and get as much money as possible. I would like to think that anything we got would be re-invested (and some) this summer. If he wants to stay though i would keep him, because if the right manager can set us up to supply him, we are not going to get anyone more likely to score 20+ goals next season.

Would much prefer Martinez but would happy be with Lambert.
Martinez:
Wigan Athletic    14 August 2009 to Present    P: 127    W: 34    D: 36    L: 57    26.77%
- only 5% better than F'eck.
Well at least we're used to it I suppose

Wigan have an average attendance of about 15 home fans and are far less superior club than Villa so dont think you can assume he will have same win rate as us!

In an interview with Paul Lambert he said that Norwich have an upcoming friendly game against Celtic? Can't see him leaving before then if he was to leave with his connections up there. Does anyone know when that match is?

Why would Lambert give a flying toss about a friendly with regards to his future?

Why would Lambert give a flying toss about a friendly with regards to his future?

Seeing as he spent 8 years at Celtic and was probably the main if not the only reason that they agreed to play the friendly with Norwich in the first place (mixed with his connections up there) It doesn't seem beyond the realms of possibility that they may be contributing factors to someone wanting to see that through.

I can't see him overseeing a friendly for Norwich being more important than where he goes next with his career, not for a second.

I'm not saying or suggesting more important. But in the interview Lambert made a point of saying that he needed to get the Celtic game out of the way and then evaluate how to move forward after that.  (It did take him a week to move from Colchester to Norwich after all)

On a related note. A friend of mine who is a season ticket holder at Norwich last week said that there were big rumours that we were after Paul Lambert and their guy who did the finance there (I've forgotten his name). He seemed resigned to losing Lambert as he felt that Lambert probably couldn't take them much higher due to their lack of resources. He thought it would be a good move (but was disappointed that Norwich didn't have the chance to relegate us as we had them in the 90's - they'd not forgotten and have apparently been holding it against us for some time).

If we are talking statistics, here's a surprising one that has only just dawned on me. The Scottish etc.'s longest winning streak in the league last season was 1. Although, to be fair, he did achieve that seven times.
