The way they discuss him, he sounds so much like MON markII that it scares me off him a little. Doesn't spend time with the players, keeps distance, Culverhouse does all the tactics etc..

A few sixth place finishes in a row? Hmm, I could live with that even if he turns out to be a dick.

So could I if done without the crippling wage bill and some entertaining football at home.

I was never that enthusiastic about MON and was usually critical after Moscow (I wonder can I still find my posts from that time?) and gave him as much grief as anybody when he walked.

But, after that season, it'd be nice to be back chasing the top four. Even if the new man was similar in style to Ol' pube head.

IMHO MON and PL have nothing to do one with the other. MON can be a good players motivator, but as far as tactics are concerned is an old style manager that plays defensive football, whereas PL is a modern manager that loves entertainng, passing, attacking football and that at Carrow Road achieved great successes with second or third division players.

I would be happy with similar results, but actually scoring goals and twatting a few sides at VP, coupled with an emphasis on young, exciting players in the main, and a supply line for Bent, who has said he is staying at Villa on twitter tonight.

I'd be happy with Lambert. But why would he want to come to Villa?

Well we know, we're still a big club with great potential.  You don't get many opportunities to have a blank canvass approach at a genuinely big Club.

He'd have a long term free reign to build a club in his own image, some decent young players to work with and some financial backing.  Also starting at such a low ebb is ideal for a new man - he'll take all the credit for improvements

It's probably the biggest job he could currently hope for so if he's genuinely ambitious he should take it like a shot.

Randy needs to do what the Ynaks do best - sell us to a good Manager and his team.

Hmm, he seemed a bit flustered and I don't know if we can take anything from that really. 'It's not nice'.

Dunno, I would prefer more of a tactical thinker, MArtinez or Rodgers would be above Lambert I think.

Why on earth would he want the grief? Norwich love him. Houllier was ill but we effectively hounded him out and McLeish is getting the same treatment.

That suggests we all knew he was going to have another cardiac problem yet were so cruel as to abuse him until we made him retire. What actually happened was that Houllier couldn't put a decent string of results together, banged on about Liverpool like a lovestruck teenager, and alienated most of our squad, and rightly fans weren't happy with that and let him know it. And then towards the end of the season, he was ill again. Don't confuse the two.

There are similarities in th way MON sets up and Lambert. But if you watched how they took it to Arsenal and Man U this season he has his teams playing with a real sense of style and purpose. I miss seeing that in a Villa side so badly.

The one thing we have to do whether its Lambert or anyone else that's a Decent manager, is give him time!

Its going to be a Bloody hard desk repairing the damage McLeish has done but for me, I only need the slightest bit encouragement that were going to attempt football and Im good with that at the minute.

Im not entirely convinced with Lambert possibly becoming our manager.  yes he has done well at Norwich but im sure they have a lower expectation than us.

Is Randy going to pay for Lambert? No.

I'd like to get one of Martinez, Lambert and Rodgers. Young, hungry, and impressive. Is Martinez out of contract now? If so, he might be the easier option. Given that Wigan were dead and buried and have such a poor squad, no money to spend, to have finished 5 points ahead of us is quite something.

If Randy is going to pay for a manager, he has to get it 100% right. No fucking around. Make a choice, a good choice, a sensible choice from the start and stick with it. McLeish wasn't a sensible choice. In not one respect. Lambert would have. Ever so impressed with Norwich yesterday, yeah, Ok... we were bad, but they're a bunch of players that you'd have expected to go straight down this season, they've been very good all season. Well done, Paul. Our hot-seat awaits... hopefully....
