Yep. According to the BBC stats, over 600 of Barry's matches has been as a starter which is some going, especially if you think most of those 32 would have been when he was younger. Milner runs at only just over 400 as a starter.

Some Brighton fans feel he's being given sub appearances purely to get the record and that he's not PL standard any more.

I was talking to one the other night and she said that twice he has been bought on as a late sub and it has cost them.

He came on as late sub but not sure how HE specifically cost them. Everton goal was a weak Dunk clearing header and the late Fulham goal was a direct freekick given away by someone else I believe. (Assuming that was the two matches being reffered to).

Not a player, but a manager.

Hearing about the Jeremy (Full Metal) Jacquet transfer from Rennes to Liverpool, I discovered that the Rennes manager is...

Re Milner, some hillarious social media outrage about his dastardly way of beating Gareth Barry's record.

Barry was without a doubt the more gifted footballer, but 2009-10 Milner was almost the complete midfielder.

In terms of value to us, I'm going to buck the trend and say Milner.

Both were terrific players for us, for different reasons.

I vote for Barry for often being the best player in a struggling side, as well as being the best 17-year-old I've ever seen.

I also vote for the 2009/10 Milner who was so dynamic in the centre of midfield that he allowed us to get away with playing 4-4-2.

Milner didn't play the weekend so he can only level with the record if he comes on for us.
