Played for Newcastle tonight in the cup, but did little second half.

Forgot ITV were showing the Milk Cup live, switched-over for the second half and kept a close eye on our JJ. He seemed to be both asking for the ball a lot and then not being in great positions to receive it. I did wonder if he was hiding a bit and lacking confidence but when he got more than a couple of touches, he seemed to come to life a bit. Albeit, there was nothing to hang your hat onto if you're a Barcode.

He was left on for the full 90 minutes though so you'd imagine Howe still sees him as fully getting up to speed. They're not going to write him off this soon with the outlay they've made on him. He's still well-capable of showing his talents with a run of games, unfortunately.
