My old man was a useful player in his day and he told me that when the game was over and he was getting changed he would always find a ten shilling note in his shoe.

Luckily, he never played with Gazza.

The average pay for L2 is still £175k a year, so not enough to retire but 10-12 years at that level is still vastly ahead of what most people will have earned by the time they hit 30.

I know people who get paid £500 per game playing in the Sunday League. There's good money there a lot of the time throughout the game.

In 1980 I got £4  a game and had to play under a false name as I was under 18 at the time. Sounds pathetic now buti was working in a factory on £22 per week at the time. So was my weekends sorted.
Hardly set me up for life as I only had one season :(

Wouldn’t have gone far in the Kaleidoscope….

It will come as no surprise to anyone here that he was still working himself into the ground. Good lad, Trez.

He did and played for Pafos in the Cypriot first division. Scored 7 goals in a friendly but injury plagued his time there and he was released after a prolonged absence because of such.

Still the holder of the second youngest player to have made his debut for the Villa though I doubt if Jimmy Browns record will ever be beaten.

Good on him, he just loves the game and it's good to see him continue when many other players would have given up by now.

Wesley has left Fatih Karagümrük and gone to Chinese League team Shenzhen Peng City FC. The clause in Wesley’s contract with Fatih Karagümrük stating that “if he plays 30 matches, his contract will be extended” had been deactivated. https://x.com/Salimmanav/status/1935658644659405242

I know a lot of very highly paid players claim its a short career when trying to justify holding another club to extortionate wage demands but there are the odd situation where one really bad challenge can kill your promising career in one go.

Ben Mee - you cucking funt

Good luck Wesley - Shenzhen is fantastic modern city

He wasn't in a half-bad city before, albeit a slightly less modern one (i.e. historic Byzantium).
