Wouldn’t bet on it HQ. He seemed to revel in kissing his Man Utd badge when scoring at VP. I suspect a fair few haven’t forgotten.

I was amazed last night that Delph is still only 31. And I wouldn't have him back (and I mean for his playing ability).

I wouldn't have the snake back if he paid us!

Regardless of what I think of him as a person/character I just think he is very much past his best.

That's what I meant. I wonder if he's past his best or that the game has moved on a lot in the intervening years that a player of his style just doesn't cut it any more.

I think he's suffered in a footballing sense by being a jack of all trades for Man City and England. Hasn't really got a position to call his own any more.

I think time heals a bit especially when we know the player is about to retire.

We gave Yorke dogs abuse for years for doing that and also signing for SHA but when he was at Sunderland he came on near the end of a game at VP and got a decent round of applause which surprised me.

Barry also got stick, probably more unjustly but he got applauded off playing for West Brom in the championship the other season.

Playing for non threatening club like Watford I think he'll get a decent reception while all the stick is directed at Deeney if he's still there. Can't remember him scoring for Man. United v us although he did dive to win that penalty in his first season.

Everton's like a semi retirement home for players in the North west, I remember Cleverley (also at Watford) going there after his loan spell and doing nothing.

Delph won a bit at Man. City so motivation to do anything but get nice pension at Everton really isn't that high. He also seems to have been injured for 80% of the time since leaving us aswell.

Re Ashley Young

I'm not sure whether this has already been discussed, but Ashley is the first English player to win Serie A since..............?

A question posed (and answered) by Mr Shin whilst I was chatting to him on the phone yesterday

The previous English winner of Serie A was the first and only one until Young.

The players have a former club in common

Jimmy Greaves won it at Milan too I think, before MC's correct Hitchens shout.
