To be fair to Steven Davies, he's had a long career playing exclusively to flight football, either in England or Scotland. He's also been a first team regular for all bar one and a half of the last 18 seasons (wasn't getting games for Soton, but went on loan to Rangers and played regularly for them).

He's had an excellent career really.

I'm under few illusions that had he been English, that cap tally would be somewhere around the zero mark. But unlike very few of our 'own', after leaving us he's gone on to have a solid, long-lived top-level and international career.

Steven Davis set to move within 2 of Shilton's home nations' caps record.

Jesus, what an indictment on the beautiful game. A steady eddie, showed promise of more with us, but he's hardly Puskas, is he ?

Compared to the Wales record cap holder he pretty much is.

I have literally never heard of him.

Always rated Davis, though. Wasn't good enough for where we thought we were heading around the time he left, but would've been more than useful for us during the Lambert years.

In the MON days, my feeling about Davis was that I never saw what Sidwell had that he didn't.

Ah Sidwell. I was there for what I think was his debut, against Odense. He got into some really good positions on the edge of the box, I thought he was going to be great for us. Shows what I know!

Sidwell was a bit like Hitz, a cracking shot on him but very little else to his game.

He was a good ball boy.

...and a good ball winner for Reading in MON's first home game. He scored two goals in the return, too.

Callum O'Hare playing the full 90 at home for Coventry at the Sty in a nil-niller while the away team has Hogan and a Gardner on the bench. Grim times.

Jake Doyle-Hayes, released in June and signed for St. Mirren a couple of weeks ago. Scored the winner and was MOTM today in his second league start for them. Happy for the kid from Cavan.
