Piss off. To all those protesting, you are an embarrasment. It won't make me popular but tough shit. Spoiled bastards making us look like Newcastle. Brought on themselves by a board that have been too open and pandered to fans wishes too much I admit, but stupid nonetheless.

Well said Chelts. It's a fucking football manager we're appointing. Nothing more.

If it is McLeish, then these complete tossers have got me rooting for him to succeed more and more.

A few thousand there it seems.

Tbh, everyone is entitled to free speech, where they stepped over the line is when they quite litterally stepped over the line and went thru the gates. Do your protest, just don't invade the stadium when they locked the gates.

gates weren't locked lets stick to facts, yeah?
Yea, that's why they just wrap chains around the gates putting a lock on it... I guess they just did it for the cameras.

the unlocked them due to police wanting Witton lane cleared for traffic, ive spoken to 3 different people who've said exactly the same, sorry if that doesn't fit your agenda

We are Aston Villa, why should we be choosing between managers who finished fourth and third from bottom.

Ya, it's pretty sad that this is what we have ended up with. It's not what I was hoping for when GH was relieved of his duties. A sad day indeed for Aston Villa F.C.

they showed them being locked, and fans gesturing and asking why to the guy who locked them.

(already spoken about. nevermind.)

For the first time ever police cleared a crowd by getting them onto private property rather dispersal?

I have no agenda. I haven't been to any protest today, just watched the scenes on Sky Sports News.

How am I meant to know the Villa staff opened the gates?

Several thousand? When I saw it there seemed a few hundred at most - did they turn up after 7 as that's the last I saw?

Because we're owned by Randy Lerner.

Totally agree alexpayne, tonight also for the 1st time in my life I am embarrassed and ashamed to be a fan of Aston villa , and it is nothing to do with randy or mcleish that makes me feel this way, it's the shameful and disgusting scenes at villa park from so called fans.

Totally agree.

Totally disagree. I am far more ashamed that we have an owner who thinks Aston villa deserve no better than a manager who spent around 20 million last summer to produce a side that  was  relegated playing the most  turgid football in the league.

Did you pop down dave? Great chance to offload a few back issues.

On the subject of back issues I was clearing some drawers and found all my old heroes and villains dating right back from issue 1 - I presumed they'd all been lost years ago.

From an official source:

Around 500 protestors attended. A gate at the North Stand was forced open and a number of the protestors got onto the car park. They were well-behaved and good natured; most of them drifted away after a while and the remainder dispersed when asked.

Not every protester was a 'complete tosser' in the same way that not every fan sings the Tracy Andrews song.

The ones I spoke to are in shock that Randy is going to destroy all the good will he has built up and fear for the clubs future. Nothing wrong with making those feelings known. I saw no trouble.

I'm with you guys.

Time for us to remember our heritage and not lower ourselves still further. We are not Newcastle. We are the famous Aston Villa.
