Hoping the Pears can do a reversal of the game at New Road a few weeks back but there has been no evidence this season of batsmen getting their head down and getting a big score

I was sitting quite a long way back and couldn't see what the ball was doing, apart from the unpredictability of the bounce. There may be some excuse for our batting if the wicket really was suspect. However, from where I was sitting it seemed that we were guilty of our familiar failings, e.g. Cameron, Solanki and Pardoe getting out when they were seeing the ball well. Moeen batted for almost 100 balls for 19 and then got out. It must also be said that Metters bowled well. Scott looked good and is still in, but even if he helps us to avoid the follow-on I can't see any result other than a win for the Bears and a 5th defeat out of 5 for the Pears.

Still hopeful for the future tho, not sure getting promoted was the best thing in the long term...players like Cox / Pardoe / Pinner etc need time to develop.

Jusr been tweeted by Mike Taylor of WM that the ECB have confirmed an 8 point deduction for the Bears because of a substandard pitch.

I think that would be harsh as the weather hasnt helped and he has produced some good pitches

I was there yesterday and although I obviously didn't see the pitch close up I couldn't see that it was that bad. Certainly Yousaf, Maddy and a couple of others managed to bat okay on it. Warwickshire racked up 382 in their first innings, hardly a poor score.
The odd ball would rear up a bit, there were a fair few rapped knuckles, maybe it was the blow on the head that Solanki took that did it, but that was from a genuinely fast, aggressive bouncer from Rankin that Solanki seemed to duck right into the path of.

Was the pitch at Lancashire the other week not worse?

We better win today to make up for the points deduction. Piss off rain.

Further to the above, will the ECB ever report a pitch where it's fucking impossible to take a wicket? Both sides scoring 600+ does not make a match. A bad pitch might be dangerous, but the opposite is a good way to kill cricket as a sport.

I wholeheartedly concur with that, Dave.

Pears 58/6... but I can see a few nasty clouds out of my Yardley window. Need to finish 'em off before lunch.
