Pears need the batsmen to show the same levels of application as the bowlers if the season is to improve....might need to dig into the loan market for a keeper/bat as need extra depth in tail and maybe also an opening bat to put pressure on Cameron

Bears 92/5 needing another 153 runs to win, with Chopra, Bell, Trott and Youssuf all gone. We've got as much chance as the Lib Dems have of winning the next General Election.

Two poor Championship results on the bounce as a result of second innings collapses. A blip or a case of normal service being resumed?

It's too early in the season to make comparisons with last season's poor showing until August.

Lancashire spinners took 8 of the second innings wickets. Clearly the pitch was a lottery and not your typical Edgbaston early season track.

Poor from the Bears today..........235 should have been gettable and after a poor start we recovered well and even when Bell went @ 175 we still had 10 overs left, we then imploded from 191 for 5 to 210 all out and where was Trott ????

Listened to much of it on the internet and from what I gather neither Bell or Trott were meant to be playing today, but Bell asked for permission from England to turn out.  I guess after not much of a bat in the Championship last week, he felt like he needed the knock.  Trott I guess didn't and perhaps sees himself as more of an England player than Warwick at the moment?.

Agreed very poor from the Bears and I fear for how this season may turn out when Bell and Trott go off for the Internationals and we are back with Westwood again.    There are some players there that I just don't get, Barker and Johnson for two.  Why is Barker batting at 3, other than to try and turn him into another Carter !!!

With yesterday's snorefest, a crap sporting weekend.

I agree with everything you say I think we will be relegated in the Championship and not do much in anything else, I think the club have overstreched themselves financially with the new pavillion, etc and we are seeing that with the quality of the players on the pitch and we dont seem to be getting any other overseas players for the 20/20

I don't 'get' Barker either. He certainly shouldn't be batting at 3 in any form of the game.

Bears V Pears County Championship game has been delayed due to rain, but looking at the Bears line-up it seems to hugely favour batting rather than bowling.

Maddy is in at number 8, with Clarke, Tahir (not Imran), Rankin and Metters (?) as the other bowlers.

Is Woakes injured?

No idea about Woakes.

Chris Metters is a young spinner we signed from Devon.

Not a disastrous first day. Now build on it Bears, maximum batting points please!

I think Frank of this parish is off to the game tomorrow, I expect a full (unbiased!) match report!
