Can't recall that episode on here.

All you need to know is he makes you look thick skinned, Tim

*wink*

Ha ha

I can't understand why he was sacked myself ....

As Dave Cooper said, looks like the club were looking for an excuse to me.

Looks to me like it was money well spent.

seems some on here have their own agenda wih this one. The guy was sacked from his job by the mighty Villa hierachy after making some comments defending his position on here, against the playground yobs and their followers.

It was a little more than that Malc, he was demanding apologies all round and generally acting the giddy goat.

This place has really gone downhill these last 12 months. This thread is a perfect illustration of that.

It makes me sad because I used to spend hours on here and loved it. I'll blame the shambles at the club for having a detrimental effect on the general levels of courtesy and good will

:-(

Courtesy and good will acts both ways, when Lerwill came on here demanding apologies for a quite natural understanding he made himself look like a total arse.

There's something wrong here, Dave, isn't there, when I came on to this thread with an extended hand and got it cut off. And I think that is what the previous poster was alluding to.

But just to clear up the assertion you just made - it was by no means a "quite natural understanding" about who had written the OS McGregor article. It was more the case that a couple of persons just decided to look at it that way. (As *you* stated at the time, if you had thought that I had written that article you would not want to get a copy of The Chronicles - by your statement you confirmed the reason why I needed to get the matter cleared.)

If that was not the case, then when I *asked* for an apology (*not* demanded it) then the persons concerned would surely have made an apology (even a half-apology or simple admittance, like, "uh, oh yeah, it does not say you had written it.") and left it that.

Anyway, I came onto this thread to offer an extended hand - pure and simple. If it is not to be taken in the way intended then that is not my loss. C'est la vie.

If I write you a cheque for 28 grand, will you go away?

Was meant to say 'misunderstanding' by the way!

No John, you came on here demanding apologies from us because we, quite understandably, thought you were the author of a badly written piece on Pravda.
If you had come on here and just explained that it wasn't you, and then maybe got the OS to re-jig the article so it was obvious they were just quoting you rather than you having written it then I doubt we would have had a multi-page thread and I doubt we would be having this conversation.
But you didn't, you leapt in with both feet and acted like a pompous arse.

Dave, can you please go back and read my last post again.

I said I *this time* came onto this thread with hand extended...

As for what happened on the original thread is your view (and some others) ... as I've said before I've got a collection of e-mails that proffer different points of view.

I didn't handle the original thread as well as I would have liked, but don't accuse just me of what you describe, because that's not the total truth of it.

As I said above, I this time came in with a hand extended - are you going to cut it off as well?

BTW, I see that you've now referred to me as 'John' and not (this time) 'Lerwill' - that's a positive step forward at least! :-))

I have absolutely no idea why you felt the need to come back at all, except probably to gloat about your 'victory' of course, you don't like us much and in general the feeling is mutual, stick to sites where you get nowt but praise and commiserations, and go and read all those lovely e-mails. That way your incredibly thin ego won't be punctured by bad reviews and criticism.

But hey-ho, if you want a virtual handshake, here's a sweaty, limp one. Ta-ra a bit.

Boimey, I'm guessing there is some sort of back story here because otherwise this talk of "us" not liking each other seems well over the top.

Dave, I'm a great believer in the idea of a peaceful world, and that can only come about when people realise that there's more than one point of view and that the only way forward is meeting in a common ground - which, for us, I would have thought, is Aston Villa.

So I am very saddened about what you've just written ...

But "gloating over my victory"? You have to be joking - the sacking plunged me into all kinds of problems (particularly when my wife had to give up work because of ailments) and I've had many nightmares.

Even though the tribunal verdict went solidly my way, I had no sense of victory about it - nothing at all.

If you'll read back to when I came onto this thread you'll see that it's wording was nothing about my tribunal "victory" at all.

OK, so be it.

Chris, there were some who were unhappy that I was appointed at Villa Park.

That I happened to be about the only person available with the set of skills and knowledge required seems to have passed by their notice.

But that's the past ... I'm out now, so there's nothing to squabble about I would have thought.

Absolutely nothing to do with this whatsoever, in fact I believe I congratulated you on your appointment on the mailing list.

I'm leaving this now, it's obviously just me and there's no point in arguing the toss on a public forum.

If that's not the case, then what's the beef???

You know my e-mail address ... write direct if you'd care to talk off-line.

I don't have any hang-ups.
