As far as beverages go yes, you can only purchase Coke products, ie Coca Cola, Sprite & Powerade, beer was Heineken, there was a cider as well, sweets & treats, Cadburys stuff only, same for ice-cream, Cadbury 99 Flakes only.

Food in venues varies venue by venue, at Excel the main concourse vendors that are permananet are open serving whatever food they have so the myth re McDonalds only is just that, a myth.  The food court inside the specific venues are temporary just for the Games, at Excel the chice was pre packaged sandwiches from stand 1, baked potatoes from stand 2 or noodles at stand 3 all served with a Coke product, Heineken or a cider and any ice cream you like as long as it was a Cadbury 99 Flake.

I can live with the limited range, the quality & standard of the food was shambolic.

At the football in Coventry, last Sunday, you couldn't buy a burger (rival to McDs ?) but you could buy sausage in a 'bun' (glorified hotdog, not sold by McD) along with pies and some beef bap which someone standing next to me bought, took one bite out of and threw it away. Chips, but not on their own. So the family of 4 sitting in front had chips and mushy peas as the cheapest option.

They went as far as to cover up the brand name on everything if it wasn't linked to a sponsor - even down to the names on the hand driers in the toilets being taped over.

Two golds in the blink of an eye. Plus 2 silvers and a guarenteed silver, possibly gold to come. Great day for Britain andthe cycling hasn't even started yet.

That's taken the shine off it a bit.

I was nearly late for work watching the shooting, that is the great thing about the Olympics, you get drawn into watching something you'd never dream of.

Midlands Today are coming live from Halesowen Cycling Club (the base of Jess Varnish), I expect the atmosphere will be somewhat muted.

Extra disappointing as Jess Varnish is from Bromsgrove.
