In summary, Gray is a horrible wanker and someone has taken the opportunity to get shot of him. Well played, whoever it was.

I disagree, it's not like saying a muslim shouldn't be a linesman that would be bigotted, but with regard to women there may well be a logical rationale. I would need to hear the reasoning before making a hard and fast judgement.

So would I!
Because I can't think of one single reason why a fully qualified female referee should not be able to officiate at a Premier League game.
Can you?

As long as i don't have to hear that ' Take a bow son' catchphrase of his for a while I'll be alright.

I must admit I've had it in for Gray over the last few years, being overly critical, writing us off and being quite disparaging in general, but when I met him he was referring to Villa as we, so not quite the prick I thought he was going to be.

In fairness to Gray, I seem to remember him leaving the Sky set in disgust after the Blues beat us 3-0 way back when.

However, he's still a boring broadcaster in my view, what with all the touch screen consoles and everything. The set looks like the Starship Enterprise now. Just show us the fucking football you arseholes.

Are there any women presenters over the age of 40 working for Sky? I bet there isn't. There's plenty of 40+ male presenters though.

There's sexism for you.

Very true.

Sam matterface who worked for ssn before talksport has been on radio saying gray was very unpopular amongst a lot of sky staff- seems he's had this coming for a while .

The bottom line is, I think, if Keys and Gray had been on a jokey chat show (like Loose Women) they could have said these things. No problem there.

I can't understand why people can't see the difference.

Aye, there was proper venom in what they were saying.

Exactly, and the tone of their comments is clearly not light hearted banter.

Obviously Sky employ the host of blonde lovelies on Sky Sports News for their considerable knowledge of the sporting world.
That's the hilarious irony.

It is ironic, but you were very angry the other day about Ricky Gervais and his comments. Maybe a lot of women are angry about Andy Gray?

Or does personal experience only count?

It's probably less than ideal in some respects that some TV presenters are picked for their looks and gender. It's always gone on though, from the year dot. The alternative is a TV channel populated by Adrian Chiles clones, and I don't think the world is ready for that.

Sky do seem to mix it up a bit, generally one blonde alongside a male anchor. Imaginative, but there you go.  In fairness, Hayley McQueen's father is an ex footballer and Vicky Wotsit also used to play for Fulham ladies.

Also, I don't think you'll ever face too much legal action for giving people jobs, unless it's clear that you've deliberately overlooked better qualified candidates. Suggesting that people can't do jobs on the basis of gender -as Gray and Keys did- is a different matter altogether.

I'd need to hear the arguments of those who are opposed to this new development. I'm relatively open minded on this one.

Should women be able to  coach,  manage , play ?  Is it only bigots who would oppose these things happening?

I certainly don't think they should commentate.

I think the comments made to Charlotte. Jackson asking her her to tuck the box down his trousers was the final straw- the look on her face says what she thinks and apparently gray was given a warning over it- it's a culmination of at least 3 offences that has cost his job .
