If it was a bad and intentional foul, but otherwise no chance a pen is going to given if a player loses possession and then there is contact. If you can find an example of when that has happened, I will find a hat and eat it.

It was intentional - Warnock stuck his left leg out to bring the guy down.  Possession is irrelevant.  You don't have to be in possession to get a pen for handball for instance, or for shirt tugging as a corner comes in.

Sorry, not looking to fallout but it is relevant - to the management of the game if not the letter of the law - otherwise no corner would ever be taken as several penalties, free-kicks and/or obstructions occur every time.

Again we are playing 3 wingers and 2 good ball playing midfielders with no hit man
no point crossing the ball to gabby he needs it in behind
Crap Knight is on a booking but he is fast-booting the ball in the air to Gabby will be lapped up by him all day
Dunne is carrying a piano
get a big forward on take off a winger and petrov and get NRC on

i want Albrighton's babies(Imagine the ransom)

Jesus.

Didn't we establish a Petrov/Ireland central midfield doesn't work?

Albrighton off (played ok - not his fault) NRC on

                         Gabby

                        Ireland

Downing  --  Petrov -- NRC  -- Young

Before its too late........

Cuellar for Dunne, why no Coker for Petrov

Errr, because we'd be left with exactly the same problem as the first half but we'd be less likely to retain possession would be my guess.

No I realise that but say a through ball gets played into the area - player A runs after it, player B sticks out his leg and brings him down, that's a pen - player A doesn't have to be in possession.

I totally accept that it wasn't a sending off because it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity and Warncok wasn't the last man, but it was a clear pen.

Anyway, it wasn't given - thank fook - so no harm done.  It had been at the other end we'd both have been screaming for it!

Glimpse of where Ireland should be, and what he's capable of there.
