There is some weird stuff going on.  I don't think anybody knows and if they wanted Curbishley he'd be in place already.

Good point - so myabe it's someone already in place?  Wait for the window to close...

Was it houllier who paid £11m for heskey?

LOL  Yes.

He scored 23 for them in his first full season.

Houllier had phil Thompson as his sidekick as well, I wonder if the new man will have to inherit coaches or bring his own people in - surely kmac and sid will stay on.

But Houllier is well respected as a knowledgeable coach, and he did reasonably well at Lyon, so I don't think he would be a disaster.
There is no popular choice, is there? I can think of worse than Houllier, and he does have "unfinished business" in the Prem, do you think he would bring Baros back?

This is the man that took Baros off our hands and gave us Carew. As I mentioned earlier, he's a sharp operator in the transfer market.

Houllier's a good manager. Isn't he known for his narrow tactics though?
His reputation for spending a fortune buying shit is second to none.

I would be unhappy with Houllier.  Liverpool's best spell under him came after he had his heart attack and Big Nose Thompson was running the team.  Spent more money on more shite than anybody else.  Including £11M on Heskey.

The only reason he's in the frame is he's made it known he's interested.  He's not managed for 3 years.  Not a chance imho

If it's a choice of houllier or Sven i'd prefer Sven but either would probably do a decent job.

Would this "people who have managed in the PL" thing exclude someone like Querioz, who has not managed in the Premier League, but has decent experience in it?

I can cope as long as it's not Allardyce or Curbishley

Not happy with premier league management experience requirement. What if there is an ex premier league player won the title in Germany and Portugal league as a manager want a job.I would like to see a manager have managed more than 2 countries. Get the like of Guus Hiddick, Jose Mourinho, Sven Goran Erikkson instead of Paul Hart and co.

I want a Wenger type appointment.

If someone like Querioz comes available you have to be interested. With his coaching CV and his experinence at domestic and international level, he'd be a great appointment.

I would hope so. Randy was sitting next to football's Mr Fix-it Keith Harris, who apart from possibly being one of the Club's advisors, is a Man Utd fan. I would trust that the Club are aware of Quieroz's current situation with the Portuguese national side.

Mark, what do you make of this?

General Krulak here:

1.  I think it is important for a Manager to be familiar with the PL because in many ways it differs from other leagues.  I do not intend to say that they have had to managed in the PL but that they be familiar with it.

the whole managerial thing has been more cloak and dagger than a Spooks episode so they are holding interviews at Bodymoor and letting the whole world know. Good one, made me smile.
As to who will be the new man can't see the point of speculating further. Judging by the way everyone has a reason for denigrating any candidate on offer its pointless. But then isn't it always so. I just hope the naysayers and those critical of the Board don't get their way. Another Mon.
