If his heart can still take it,  I would go for Gerard Houllier.

I'd rather O'Leary with Steve Hodge as assistant.

Ha, a sweet shop. Well done, you're a very funny man. Sven, dear oh dear???
Why, thank you.

There are no obvious choices. However I can say that as a Club, we are not in a position to discount one of the most successful domestic league managers of the past thirty years.

Well that's all ifs, buts or maybes. The fact is that Moyes has had greater achievements with less money that M'ON did.

What the fuck do they need an interview for? You know if somebody is good enough for the job or not. If they want it, and they're good enough, then give them the job.

Asking questions such as "How would you treat an employee if they had a bad day at the office?" is ridiculous coming from people who don't know much about football.

And the list that appears on here, is full of crap.

An interview, if you read the statement,  would probably takeplace so they can fulfill the 2nd criteria mentioned, that the candidate will have a vision for the future of the team.  Something Messrs Gold and Sullivan obviously did't ask Mr Grant.

Houllier's a good manager. Isn't he known for his narrow tactics though?

If the PR is true on an assessment centre (source?), then does that mean that the candidates will all be "immediately available", as no one in a current job would go, unless the Villa have agreed in advance their release to attend.

His reputation for spending a fortune buying shit is second to none.

I interpreted the post about the assessment centre as an attempt at humour.

I disagree with you entirely. You need to look a man in the eye to judge the true quality of him and hear his ideas first hand. This isn’t about the Villa job being open at the right time as some sort of career boosting opportunity. This is the chance to build a dynasty.

Two of the traits we believe are of crucial importance are that candidates have experience of managing in the Premier League and a strategy for building on the existing strengths in our current squad.

Takes some of the fantasy out of it, doesn't it

Sven has done nothing of note in 10 years.

Only needs one question at interview.

"Here is £18 million quid, left over from Milner transfer", who could you get us before 6pm on Tuesday?
