First game was a 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury just after xmas in 1970, it was a Christmas present along with the kit. Was just after the semi final win over Man Ure if I remember correctly.

I seem to recall Sir Brian scoring a hat-trick in the 5-0 against Oldham? He scored so many goals in that second-half of the 74-75 promotion season. Who remembers the epic 2 leg semi against Chester in the League Cup? We eventually went through to Wembley 3-2 in the Villa Park 2nd leg - again Sir Brian got the winner.

I was desperate, truly desperate to see Villa at Wembley (didn't get a ticket though!)

For the 1971 and 1975 finals, tickets were allocated to season ticket holders and shareholders. After that, it went by the amount of programme vouchers you had (programmes back then had a little number attached to the back page). The only trouble was, you could buy back editions from the ground on match days. By the time the 77 final came around, everyone had cottoned on and I was caught cold, being in about the 3rd tier down of required vouchers. When I went to get my ticket, they had all sold out. As a 17 year old, I wanted to fight the world and was plotting with others to take tickets from a tout on the day. I ended up with 4 tickets and the only condition I was given was that I should not sell them over face value. I never did, although I think that in hindsight, one of the tickets I let go went to someone who sold it on for a profit (that was me being 17 and nieve).I remember the tickets I had (they had come from 2 separate sources) had "Birmingham City" or "Wolverhampton Wanderers" stamped on them. The people who kindly gave them to me asked only that I did not sell them at above face value and I was only too happy to respect their wishes.I have to say, ticket distribution is a lot fairer these days (even if it means that I won't get a sniff at an away ticket)
