            friedel ,luke young, clarky dunny,warnock
                   downing, petrov, nrc, albrighton
                                        ash
                                 big john carew
Eh? O'Neill has gone, so there's little chance of Freidel playing right back.

4-2-2-1-1

Friedel
Young, Dunne, Clark, Warnock
Nige, Petrov
Downing, Albrighton
Young
Gabby

Milner on the bench if needed.

Anything's possible today. As others have said, we could really turn it on or it could be a poor showing. I'd line up:

-----------------------------Friedal------------------------------
---L Young-------Clark------------Dunne------Warnock---
---Albrighton-----NRC----------Petrov---------Downing---
--------------------------A.Young--------------------------
--------------------------Carew---------------------------

If Gabby was fit I'd probably go with a 4-3-3  with Downing central. I think Milner drifted to the right a lot when played central, and think I would try Downing in a central position for this game to see how effective he would be there.

---------------------------Friedal------------------------
---L. Young-------Clark---------Dunne-----Warnock---
------------NRC----------Petrov-------Downing---------
-------Gabby-----------------------------------A. Young----
---------------------------Carew------------------------

That's the team for me, I reckon, although I would probably pick Beye over Luke Young - not much in it though! I hope Clarke plays, too, but I do suspect Davies might get the nod.

Assuming Cuellar, Collins, Davies and Agbonlahor are out;

----------------------Freidel------------------

Young--------------------------------Downing
---------------------Carew----------------------

Subs;
Guzan,
Beye,
Lichaj,
Salifou,
Albrighton,
Heskey,
Delfounso.

I think this is the first game in 3 years I am not able to name the starting 11 on my way to the ground with little chance of being wrong. Today I just don't know. Which has to make it harder for West Ham to prepare.

But all of the last few days needs to be out of the window for 90 minutes, beat West Ham comfortably, show the league we still have a good squad, and that we are still to be reckoned with, and then think about this manager lark.

If it doesn't magically appear by five to three, we'll allow you to create one, Kelly.

Think you can handle that?

Villa to win 3-1 and pandemonium on the match thread every time you type 'yes', 'goal', 'GABBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBY', 'ref, you twat', 'anybody seen Milner?', 'don't let Tommy shoot', 'that's what a substitution looks like, Martin', 'anybody got a stream?', etc as you'll have a message (Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.) to tell you that there have been 83 new posts since you last read the thread...

Quite like that although I think that Beye will start instead of Clark.

I think given KM is the manager today, he won't be afriad to use Clark or Albrighton. Clark has looked solid and is a proper CB, and arguably Albrighton has been our best player in pre-season. Blood them both, there's nothing to fear and lots to gain.

When did you suddenly grow a pair of balls?

I'll put one up when the teams are announced.
