I don't know why, but I have a feeling that Albrighton's going to really hit the wall next season in terms of his development. Which isn't to say he won't get over that hurdle, but I don't think he should be in our first choice 11 from the outset. Hope I'm wrong!

From what I saw, Marc looked like he'd hit that wall half way through last season! It was his first full season though so hopefully he'll be stronger for it this coming season.

I've had this nagging thought for a while that Houllier brought Albrighton back into first team action so soon after his surgery.

I hope that didn't hinder him.

Might have done last season, but with a full pre-season free of injury behind him he should be ready to go. It's probably a blessing that Pearce doesn't seem to rate him, he's not going to be overplayed in this tournament!

Under 21s England v Czech Republic

• England will be through with a win and out with any other result.

• Czech Republic will progress with a victory. They will also qualify with a draw unless Ukraine defeat Spain by three goals or fewer. However if Spain lose exactly 3-0, then the Czech Republic would qualify with a high-scoring draw of 2-2 or more, but not 1-1 (due to their inferior coefficient) or 0-0 (on overall goals scored).

Cattermole with a better touch. £20m of your English pounds.

And newspapers suggesting the Bindipping bastards only wanted to pay £10m for Downing?  I know that was only speculation, but I won't let a lack of hard evidence get in the way of a dig at them.

Is it true that Pearce is being groomed to replace Capello? That would be a disaster.

Capello has hardly been an outstanding manager

The u21's look pedestrian again. No cutting edge from the middle, so much so Sturridge is dropping so deep to get the ball. Reminds me of the Villa really.

Oh and Henderson looks like a bargain at £20 million, the new Carrick.

The team set up is exactly as you would expect under Pearce.
3 up and downers in midfield with no composure or movement when we are on the ball

He certainly seems to be lacking energy and his movement off the ball is non existent, he want to get a video of the Barca two.
