I was looking at t'internet so I cant claim to have watched closely but from what I saw the biggest problem was Henderson, he was the man who the team were to play through yet he wasn't up to it, his movement was poor, his touch wasn't great and he panicked and gave the ball away when pressed. King Kenny will be nervously blaming it on fatigue and he's probably right, has he played more PL games than anyone else in that team this season?

I honestly think someone at Liverpool has gone fucking mental.

First 35m on Carroll, a young striker with a penchant for getting pissed and into bother, who has had one half of a good Premier League season, and has now been taken away from his comfort zone, then the best part of 20m for Jordan Henderson, who has had one half of an average Premier League season.

I know they trust him implicitly up there, but if I were a Liverpool fan, I'd be a bit worried by signings like that.

Plus they'd have spend nearly the same on that Jones as well.

The one thing I liked about Henderson  was that he didn't hide, he was pretty ropey but still kept demanding the ball and trying to get things going, he failed abysmally but confidence wont be an issue.

Jones looks like a younger version of Jagelka, Compare Jordan Henderson to C Gardener at the same tournament and you have a seriously  over valued player

Maybe he is but he hardly played toward the end of the season, he's confident but I think maybe, just maybe, his initial enthusiasm and vigour has masked a lack of ability. He certainly doesn't look in the same league as Gerrard at the same age.

I took a look at a Sunderland forum just as they were flogging Henderson, and they seemed largely unbothered.

They were considerably more het up when they sold Darren Bent, mind.

It appears that you have to pay over the odds to buy young british talent.  Just like Milner and Young we arguably paid over the odds at the time, but as an investments they paid off big time, both on the pitch and in the bank.

On this basis I can understand Liverpool's policy, however even if Carroll fulfils his potential he'd cost 35m so there is limited scope for the signings to be a success.

The comparison to Gardner above is worth noting, they seem similar, energetic, confident but largely unimposing and the player most likely to be sent off at any point in the game. Strange it went to £20m when no-one else seemed interested.

A bit late for this but the only other player who looked good apart from the two centre halves, Sturridge, Welbeck( when he got the chance) and Walker in the first game was Henri Lansbury. As soon as he came on in the last two games he immediately was trying to get on the ball and put passes through to Welbeck, so it’s a bit of a mystery to me why he didn’t start a game. The only reason can be was that Pearce was putting caution ahead of taking the game to the oppo.

Player of the tournament for us was Smalling.

The stadium is being ripped to buggery, the club museum has been set on fire and the match finished early due to rioting on and off the pitch.

At least they're taking the news well.

...and it's supposed to be hosting the Copa America Final next month. Not likely.
