But very few teams in the Prem including the top ones mentioned by Richard have bought a world class star at the peak of their career. They have bought very good players who might have become world class like Drogba, Henry or Ronaldo but they have very rarely bought a Messi or Ronaldo in the pomp.

But Gobby's comments made me wonder about Citehs spending and it seems to be mostly average to good players with very few very good but no world class at the moment.

Barry and Milner can go suck each other's dicks. Both of them thought they'd take the easy way of joining citeh knowning it's going to be an easy career for them knowing how much citeh will spend on players. The pair of them had no self-belief they could achieve anything at Villa on their own (despite the fact we reached a final and semi-final last season and citeh didn't... ho hum) and just wanted to join the latest set of bandits getting paid ridiculous wages.

Hilarious how it was the first ever game citeh's owner had been to last night... despite being owner for 2 years, just shows how much he cares about his 'club' *cough* toy *cough*.

I know this is a bit late, but City weren't really that good last night and there is no need for all this doom and gloom. Liverpool were woeful and never looked like scoring apart from a 5 minute spell after City's second.

City are very good defensively and Liverpool looked toothless in attack and easy to counter. A lot of teams will be those two things against City this season so they'll pick up a lot of points, but I've seen nothing to suggest that it won't be Man Utd or Chelsea once again at the top of the table - and I'd back Arsenal to finish about City as well.

Interesting last few minutes in the Sevilla v Braga play-off.  Sevilla equalised in the 82nd minute to get back into it but Braga scored pretty much from the restart.  2-3.  First unexpected champions league exit.  Lets hope we get another one tommorow!

edit: All over, 4-2 to Braga...or err 4-3 to braga

At the risk of tempting fate, sounds like Oxford are playing well against West Ham.

Watched the Sampdoria v Bremen game Champs League play-off. An absoloute cracker, Bremen went through 5-4 on agg. Samp were 3-0 up with 2 minutes of injury time left, conceded and the game went to Extra Time. Pizarro with the winner.
Gutted for Sampdoria, always had a soft spot from the days when they had a great team at the start of the 90s. Pazzini and Cassano had Bremen's defence in ribbons before they subbed Cassano.

I watched Anderlecht vs Partizan last night... a great match that went to penalties, and if you think John Carew's penalty was bad you should take a look at the 3 misses from the Anderlecht players, shocking lol.

Yeah, just saw the highlights. That little guy up-front for Braga looked very good. Disaster for Sevilla though.
