From In bed with Maradonna

Quote
Attacker Mohammed Fellah and Midfielder Harmeet Singh have been a revelation at Valeranga over the last 18 months.  Fellah, aged 21, of Moroccan descent, has already saw large sections of the Norwegian media getting particularly excited and it’s not difficult to see why.  Not the tallest fellah (see what I did there?) you’ll ever see, young Mohammed has netted only six times in fifty appearances for his club, but his record at junior international level shows what a poacher and creator this player is.  John Carew is said to have recommended the player to Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill.  That’s what IBWM has heard anyway.

3. Scott Parker comes in for £10m.

I can't see Martin paying that for a player of his age.

Last time we bought a player on the say-so of one of our squad, we ended up with Nicky Shorey. Pass

edit: or was it Sidwell? Either way...

I think West Ham and their nice owners will rip us off if we try and go for Parker.

To be fair to Martin, I don't think he would let his signing decisions be determined by the recommendations of current players.

What I'd like to happen.

1- Keep Milner, NRC, L Young, Davies.
2- Sell Beye, Shorey, Sidwell. Shorey, Salifou, Heskey.
3- Buy Ireland, Parker, Bent, Bentley.
4- Win something.

What I think will happen.

1- Sell Milner, Beye, L Young, Davies, Shorey, Salifou, Heskey, Sidwell
2- Keep NRC.
3- Buy Keane, Ireland, Adam Matthews, McGeady, A SUPRISE FOREIGN SIGNING!!!!
4- Win something.

Doubt it.  Ask anyone - Martin's not interested in stars.

Doesn't that (what you think will happen) leave us worryingly short in defence?

Warnock, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Lichaj? That's it?

I've no idea who Adam Matthews is, but unless the foreign signing is Messi, I can't really see that state of affairs leading to silverware.

Does anybody really believe we'll win anything next year?

Considering how close we were this year? I'd say there's a chance.

Oops, I missed off Onouha. And Adam Matthews is Cardiffs right back and a decent prospect. I just plucked it out of the ether for the craic.

Matthews is a fullback from Cardiff and we'd have Clark at the back as well.

Cuellar/Lichaj at RB
Warnock/Matthews LB

Would prefer another specialist RB myself, either keep Young or get in Richards from Citeh.

I thought Matthews was a left back?

I thought Matthews was a left back? Onuoha is another good shout though good versatile defender, although I would prefer a specialist RB. MON does prefer his players to be versatile though!
