actually I quite like Doyle, he holds the ball up well, certainly caused us problems and MON would probably get the best out of him.

Another name for the pot, Suarez at Ajax.

Looked good when they played at VP, better than Huntelaar in fact. Viewed as a support striker, but has something ridiculous like 70 odd goals in 90 appearances for them.

Dutch league is pony, true. But might be one to watch. Still only 23.

Probably wanted by every major club in the world since he was about 12. He's been a developing star for many years now, and Ajax have finally managed to turn the raw diamond into a polished one this season. With that work done, he'll probably leave for Man Utd or Real Madrid this summer (especially if, as is wholly possible, he has a good World Cup) for about a million billion.

Someone mentioned Andy Carroll...

That'll remain but a pipe dream (or for those of you that don't rate him, merely a pipe idea) this summer. Think about it - Geordie lad, his favourite club's main striker, the whole of Newcastle treating him like a God and him playing in the Premier in front of the England manager...not going to happen, is it?

I like Suarez and think he'd do well playing just behind Gabby.  Didn't know he was that highly rated to be attracting interest from Real/Barca though?

Easily good enough, he's got absolutely everything and has done for quite a while. What he's learned at Ajax are the simple virtues of team-work, as well as how and when to know when to dribble, when and where to pass, blah blah blah. He's an absolute star.

Never heard that level of interest either.

They have enough money and pull not to be 'taking a punt,'  so you think they'd be looking at better.

He is good, but I wouldn't have said Barca/Madrid/ Manure good. At least, not yet.

That's been the general consensus for a couple of years: let him develop just that little bit more. I'm surprised you haven't seen the links to Man Utd et al, because they've been everywhere this season on account of his finally turning into the finished article.

By all accounts Benzema is Fergie's major target.

But maybe he'll have to revise that if that deal doesn't come off again.

There's another lad in the Dutch league, El Hamdaoui of AZ. Played in England before when he was younger (still only mid 20's now) but his time was disrupted by injury.

Top scorer in Holland last year, but I'm always wary   as to how much value that really represents. Hello Samaras, and the Brazillian lad at Boro who's name escapes me at the moment.

I can't see him going to one of those and being a starter though!  Does anyone know what type of fee he's being touted at?

Suarez? £30m has been bandied about. And I can't see why he wouldn't start at Man Utd or Real Madrid, even Barca if they want a player on the left side of the three up front to replace Henry.

If Fulham want Shorey a swap for Konchesky would be reasonable I reckon.

Kalinic was very impressive for Blackburn in the matches he played against us, and would offer a different option up front.

Agree.

That would be the Kalinic that has scored two goals in 24 games?

I swear a player only has to play well against us for people to want us to sign him.

Dear Close Season Santa,

I have been a very good boy this season.

I would like:

2 new right backs. If the current 2 can't dislodge a centre back from the position then they obviously aren't good enough.

1 left back to cover Warnock, as it looks like neither Nicky or Freddie will be back

1 striker

1 driving, goalscoring midfielder. I've heard a lot about Blackpool's Charlie Adam in this vein, he sounds like the sort of creative central midfielder we could do with who will offer us an alternative attacking option to Ash and, er, Ash...

It is also 7 in 31, which whilst not making him Lionel Messi, is not bad.

I liked the look of him against us, thought he looked like he had potential.
