A hot topic for debate stateside at the moment (eg on ESPN's "PTI" yesterday) is what to call Bengals' wide receiver Chad Johnson this season.

Chad has apparently legally changed his name to "Chad Ocho Cinco" however the NFL and media are still referring to him as "Johnson".

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3560377

Now, whilst this change may be stupid, if its legally valid then I believe that the media should refer to Chad by his new name.

Its really no different to Lew Alcindor becoming "Kareem Abdul-Jabbar" or Cassius Clay becoming "Muhammad Ali".

He's injured at the start of this season anyway isn't he? and his team are rubbish. They should call him by his new legally adopted name.

After watching Channel 5's pre-season NFL programme I'm ready for it to start now (was on until nearly 2am though  :smt015 ). Although I don't think 'Da Bears' are going to have a very good year.

Bears face the Colts on Sunday (well 1am, so sort of Monday). We have no chance.

And you?

Four games is excessive. Its time that the NFL switched to just two pre season games and extended the regular season to 18

That's an excellent idea!

As for Chad - This may be old news but doesn't his "new" name translate as Eight-Five and not Eighty-Five?

Anyway, much as I love Randy Lerner, his Browns will be getting a whippin' courtesy of The Cowboys this weekend. Mind you, if T.O gets injured again we've got precious little else at the WR position.

I'm backing the Skins to finish last in the NFC East and a losing start against the Giants tonight/tomorrow...

You're correct.

That very point was the subject of discussion on ESPN's "Mike & Mike" this week.

As for the Raiders...... these days I just assume they're gonna be crap and don't even bother bringing them up on this thread. I'm saving a trip to Oakland for a game until they're actually competitive.

The Raiders are supposed to have good running-backs but not a lot else.

Can someone provide a link to a list of all the major trades/player movements please?

I love NFL, but never seem to keep up with what's going on out of season. It takes a few weeks to find out where everyone has gone to.

You've got 1897 twice, I know we did the double but that's going too far.

Bears against the Colts tonight - we'll definitely win  8-[
