Welcome to all Villa fans who suddenly have a favourite American Football team.

I thought that in light of today's events we should have somewhere to discuss events NFL-wise.

So here it is.

No messing about please or I'll subject you all to more babbling about baseball and Tangerine Dream. [-X

Today sees the most important event in the NFL pre-season. I am of course referring to the debut of the broadcasting legend that is Tony Kornheiser on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" as they broadcast the Raiders v Vikings game.

Good luck Satch from your one and only fan in England.

The real games start in early September. I'll be in Boston for the Bills @ Patriots game on Sep 10th.

Go Panthers.

I worked in Charlotte for two summers, 1998 and 1999. I then went on to Chicago, Boston and New Jersey... and people tried to convert me wherever I went, but even though I don't follow the NFL too closely, I can't just change the team I follow.

That said, I hope the Browns have a good season :D

Live near Tampa , but would not follow them for obvious reasons ,  have distinct leaning towards the Eagles, but will probably make an effort to watch the Browns now  \:D/

I went to a MNF game in Charlotte a couple of years back. I flew in that afternoon and straight out again in the morning. I really must try to get back there again some time.

The Steelers have always been my team, the old man visited about 20 years ago and came back with shirt, cap etc.

I have friends in Reddington Shores (sp). There's a great Italian restaurant nearby. On the night I was there Esteban Yan (D'Rays pitcher at the time) was entertaining two blondes !!

Nope, not even billionaire American owners are enough to make me watch American football, it's an awful, awful sport.

Now baseball, I can watch that!

I have normally followed New England, as I like Brady at QB, the roughness of the Defensive line and people like Deon Branch etc.

However, I can say that I like the Browns now!

I used to follow Philadelphia, only because they were the team I was good with  at John Madden on Megadrive!

I'll be a Browns man now.

The Arizona Cardinals finally sign their First Round draft pick, QB Matt Leinart to a 6 year contract.

Leinart should have left college last year after leading USC to the national championship. At that point he would probably have been the Number One player taken. However, he decided to go back to college and join his (now ex) girlfriend in a ballroom dancing class.

Staying in college cost him several million dollars

Leinart has since been linked with that well known intellectual Miss Paris Hilton.

I'm an Eagles fan as it was there that I saw my first NFL game in '84 - they were shit back then and lost that game (to the 49ers), but I've stayed loyal through all the years of disappointment ever since. Never saw them play again except in an exhibition match at Wembley a few years later, which I think was actually against the Cleveland Browns.

I have a soft spot for Cleveland as it was the first US city I ever went to (after NYC), and I have some good memories of times I spent working around there one summer. I never saw the Browns play though.

This "love-in" with The Browns is as painful as Terrell Owens hamstring right now!

Question for UKRedsox: Is there no more Madden/Micheals on MNF this season then?

..and I'm still waiting for Richard to join in telling us how crap he thinks the NFL is.  :smt002
